Bacteria?

Worm is selling a Tommy Kaira Hebi Bebi Shift Knob and I was going to ask: "WTF is the deal with the love of these things?" But first I decided to search the net. Didn't find anything on why so many people love them but that was because I came across this first (may be old news)... Bacteria on shift knobs and steering wheels Fighting bacteria in the car one sticky swab at a time - MSN Autos

Time to find a metal shift knob.

Oh...and WTF is the love of the Tommy Kaira Hebi Bebi?

kenchan 09-12-2013 08:25 PM

or just stop eating in the car and wash your hands after you get home or arrive at work.

cooltoy 09-12-2013 09:00 PM

It's weighted, so the throws are crisper and it is probably the right shape if you are a plam shifter.

6MT 09-12-2013 09:06 PM

Eeeeooooowww!

What he said.

On top of that, it's shorter too. Heavy + shorter = win.

If that is not enough... Tommykaira is a famous Japanese car tuning and manufacturing company. The shift knob is very rare too. That should give enough reason for those JDM lovers all over it.

Now I am gonna go ahead and read WTF is this bacteria on shift knobs and steering wheels all about.:icon17:

there are billions of bacteria coating every surface of your body, and every surface you touch every day. in fact, your body has more bacteria cells inside it than human cells. it's just that the bacteria cells are much smaller, so they make up far less of your total mass.

most bacteria are harmless or even beneficial, so not much to worry about.

I haven't seen a single one of these bacteria things today so I don't know what you're talking about...

cooltoy 09-12-2013 11:15 PM

If you haven't seen it does not exist, right?

Leuz 09-12-2013 11:23 PM

Eating and car should never appear in the same sentence.

Why not, it's just a nissan. Maybe if it was a classic 1963 Ferrari or something.

:iagree: Wash those hands pronto upon returning home.

A silver or silver plated knob would be a natural anti bacterial.

kfull 09-13-2013 10:07 AM

If anyone's really paranoid about bacteria in your z we've got some industrial sized sterilizers where I work that are big enough to fit a few cars in:icon18: so hit me up if you're interested. It only would cost you about 20 grand!

Those too.

On a side note, I'm in the medical field and look under a microscope at bacteria on a daily basis.

Can't Touch This

Dangerous combo is FOOD + SHIFT KNOB. 80% of poultry products are contaminated w/ Salmonella. Swab the conveyer belt at your local grocery store for chicken juice. Now, everything you touch that you bought has it on it. I know this because I spent 5 days in the hospital w/ Salmonella. Have a jug of alcohol hand sanitizer stuck behind my passenger seat w/ dispenser nozzle. I don’t lick my fingers any more regardless how good especially in my car. My shift knob is relatively sterile and safe for performing surgical procedures.

Tigger 09-13-2013 05:14 PM

So I guess it's ok to consume fecal matter with your sandwich as long as you used hand-sanitizer first.

Or share your drink, etc.
