2012 Oil Cooler and Stillen Plate Holder

Question on the 2012 oil cooler, in looking at the car and the manual it seems like the oil cooler uses water after circulating it through the short length of tubing at the front of the grill.

The last couple of days it has the weather has cooled a bit and yet I still noticed by oil temp running slightly higher than 220, city driving. Then I noticed that the Stillen Plate holder in the tow hook mount positions the plate right in front of the tubing running back to the cooler.

Now I am curious if anyone else has found that this is blocking the air flow to an already questionable oil cooler in the 2012. Tomorrow I will pull it on the drive to work and note the oil temp and update this thread if someone has not already made this observation.

Regards,

Jim

Hello Jim,
I have the GoMiniGo plate mount and it sits close to the oil coller also. I cannot say wether or not it is affecting my stock oil cooler temps, asI put it on while I was still breaking the car in. However with it on, I do see a constant 220 during normal city driving in 60-70 degree weather.

Still testing, but it seems to be adding a bit to the temp. Hard to say for sure. My temps are just over 220 in city traffic.

That tubing is power steering cooler not the stock cooler. The stock cooler is by the air filter, uses coolant to radiator and back

What Martin said..^. An aftermarket oil cooler will mount on the opposite side of the radiator (opposite from the PS cooler you were referring to), so your Stillen plate holder won't affect the airflow to that side of the radiator.
I was also seeing 220 degrees routinely around town. That's really not high oil temp at all, especially if you're running synthetics, but if you want to reduce the oil temps, an aftermarket cooler is the way to go.

Unless you track a 2nd aftermarket cooler is not needed.

For the 2012 are you saying that the small cooler in front of the radiator and on the passenger side by the tow hook is pwr steering not oil?

Correct that is your power steering cooler
