That is just the weirdest thing. A mechanic would almost have to be trying to drop a nut in there... or be really stupid and knock one in and not notice a nut was missing from the manifold. Yikes :shakes head:

Hate to say it Andrew but

Thats some BS. Sorry Andrew....

if you knew how fontana nissan operated you would not be saying that...in my experience one of the best nissan dealers that actually takes care of their customers.....and andrew i seriously hope they can cut you some type of deal, thats some pretty f'ed up stuff going on there in your engine

I think he was referring to the previous stealership, not Fontana.

Side note: I have seen first hand what a small nut can do to the inside of an engine. When I was back in high school screwing with my CJ5's carb I put the air cleaner nuts on the post. Well one jumped off & in a mater of <10 seconds went thru the carb, intake into at least 3 cyls as I found parts of it in cyl 1, 3 & it had cracked cyl 4. Hoping it was just a scratch, put it all back together only to make eggnog (coolant & oil mixture) in the oil pan . Man that sucked but the fun did not end there  Sent the block out & they thought it was a scratch too. Then they said we magnfluxed it, it's good to go  Put all back together & gee whiz it was a crack :ugh2: after a trip to small claims, they paid me to have someone else rebuild & install the motor. I wasn't about too lose all my time I had installing the motor when I told them it wasn't fixed

Dude...That's why u never take it to a Stealership...They can fawk u n a whim...and make up sum BS Xcuse...The only time u'll see me @ a Stealership is when I'm buying a new vehicle...I don't trust Stealerships...never have, never will...

You and I are having bad luck right now brother.. Hope it gets resolved.

luigi90210 08-05-2013 08:03 PM

But the car is at Fontana Nissan

So... Long story short(ER). They found a nut sitting on the intake valves of cylinder 6, causing the valve seat to get fùcked. No warranty because there ARE no nuts on the intake... So... I'm at a loss of $600 labor already, they pulled the motor and disconnected everything, then they bolted it back in just to save shop space.

IF they can JUST replace the valve head (because of VVEL they need to replace the whole head, not just a valve and a valve seat... POS) I'm out $1100 on labor, the valve head is like $1000-1100, plus (I assume) some other fees $300-400, so I'm out $2500-2600 all told and I keep my warranty. IF anything got stuck in the cylinder and scored the cylinder wall, I need a new engine... (Tech's said that they couldn't scope the cylinder because of VVEL... POS...)

So they're taking their time because they're cutting me a HELL of a deal on labor, and I told them to take all the time they need...

NOW, I'm 100% sure the dealership that had my car for 13 days with the laundry list of problems started to fix it, then I got into it with the dealershit guy, and they just tossed it back together...

Well, Im glad to hear at least you know wtf went wrong with it.

If you never touched the engine and the other dealer was the last to touch it?

Hold them responsible for the damages. Thats BS that YOU have to foot the bill albeit a discount from Fontana.

YOU shouldn't be help liable, Unless they can prove YOU did it.

Im NOT happy to hear your footing the bill But its great they've traced it.

Good job Fontana :)

JungleZ 08-05-2013 09:14 PM

thats bs you have to pay for anything with a car with less than 40k miles. My honda prelude h22 engine wasnt even broken in after 100k... not 1 issue.

sorry about the news. Previous dealership were the likely suspects and would be absolutely difficult to prove they did this. They have the resources to drag this our for a long time. Unless you really love the car you probably should just get it fixed the cheapest way possible and just dump it and then decide if you want another one or not. Some cars are just bad luck. You could not even enjoy the darn thing anymore.

Possibly true, but this should be the last course of action after Nissan Corporate refuses a suitable remedy be offered. No need to deal with the dealer who did this at all. Time to provide a professional detailed summary to them and put the ball in play with Nissan proper.

:iagree: report dealer to Nissan...let them mediate.
