OK maybe this is a question for another thread and I know everyone has their opinion but should I replace the whole pumpkin or just the diff and gears if I wanna swap gears and diff? I Know a good bit about gears and power transfer but not so much z specific. I called around to a few local tranny places and a nissan performance shop here in town and no one would even open the case to swap to 4.08 gears because they would need way too many specialized tools. Any direction on this would be much appreciated!

177k miles and still good on the VQ30 in my maxima. I expect to get plenty out of the Z. I would say more, but I'm not going easy on it!

Also Ive read that the differential housing for the 350z and the 370z is Identical. Is This True If so this could help keep cost down and I could Buy one from a salvage yard open it up and play with gears I have access too from my job post pics and a detailed write up of any swaps and stuff.

There are a bunch of threads about swapping the gear in the rear end.
|
touche, but I havnt seen anyone bolt up the cheaper assembly from the 350z to the 370...was just wondering if the housings are physically the same dimension is all.

@OP i dont know whats wrong with yours but i can get second and third to chirp from just power shifting, and im running wider tires in the rear(295/30/19) |
Your from auto to manual that's what the really problem is. Auto has 7 gears while manual only have 6. It's all about the gear ratios. Auto will of course feel torquay than manual at lower gears. If you have bicycle experiences you know what I am talking about.
That being said, this 370z manual transmission is so hard to launch fast. That has been brought up here again and again and again and again if you ever do some researches... The most negative 6m driver out there on this forum has claimed he has been smoked by Toyota Camary(or the same class) in many places and weather conditions. (*cough jungleZ cough*:icon17: ) So beaten by an eclipes is not too bad. LOL. Next time, try not to race with anybody on a public road. But if you have to, rev it to 5k and dump the clutch see if the eclipes can keep up with you or not. But do it at a drag strip. |

kinda off topic.. but can the 370 exceed 155mph? stock? if the gov is removed or whatever? is it illegal?:ugh2:

keep it at the track and stay safe |
Yes of course.. Being legal.. Does anyone on here own a Z that can go past 155mph on private property or track? Has anyone on here even hit those speeds in their Z? 155mph?

with that said, i will never drive that fast again, although its fun, its scary, and not like a scary movie scary, but more like a huge spider fell on your leg while you were using the toilet scary |

Ask the guys in Germany |
155 in a cage is not scary. 186 with nothing but a leather suit between you and asphalt closes the 'ol cornhole up. On a track, of course :tiphat:

if you want good tires get the michelin pilot sport a/s. never had an issue with them and get great mileage out of them. also in snow i piss guys off in their jacked up 4x4s when they see me out with my Z. i will never buy any other type/brand of tire again.
|
lol Ill try to keep it on the track from now on forza...However the ECU reset really fixed the issue I'm sure with the help of the new air filters. Call me a bad driver if ya want but the throttle response was just awful and the car just felt laggy not so much any more.

So far I have had great success with the pilot supersport and tread wear is amazing(put about 7k miles on them and they still look brand new) |

I'm about 30k now. Nissan recommends the pcv valve replaced, Cooling system and transmission serviced/flushed. They also recommend a fuel induction service, throttle body serviced and spark plugs checked every 30k if necessary.
All my fluids are good as I've done them myself recently, so I'm gonna look at the trans, pcv valve and throttle body services within the next month. Should make for some good diy's. I'll have the dealer service the trans. While I'm at it I'll check the plugs. Why not. |

In my humble opinion, you spend money on this thing to cheat yourself coz it makes you "feel" faster while it's not. You can get the same acceleration by flooring the gas paddle without the sprint booster.:rofl2: |

So I got the z jacked up and was playing around with it for the first time today oil change etc etc and also there seems to be a clicking sound coming from the rear on acceleration im guessing just the axel and cv joints....Ill probably just get that fixed when I switch over to 4.08 FD and swap my dif....But i found these little guys on my front springs they look like spring savers that come on springs Ive ordered for machines at work. Anyways the looked out of place on a 60k mile vehicle.

Dealers always forget to take those spacers off of Nismos. The axle click is pretty well known.

lube the axle splines going into the hubs, 350z had this issue, just fixed it on my 370z about 3 weeks ago. |

Very common on 09-10 model. All you need to do is grease the axle shafts and re-torque both axle nuts. http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...tml#post277071 2. http://www.the370z.com/nismo-370z/12...ere-first.html |
Not to mention I had 120k on my 350z when I sold it, it was pure abuse from myself and the previous owner, the design is solid, you'll have a few bad eggs here and there, welcome to mass production of products.
Never forget we aligned an s2k one time because the owner said it handled funny, he had just bought it used from ohio, guess what was in the springs...not only the PDI dealer missed it, the dealer that sold it as well...hilarious. |
