Need a JDM lesson: What's with yellow head/fog lights?
I was thinking about applying yellow film to the foglights on my 2013 however I'm hesitant because I don't know the significance. I think if kept to an accent it can look really nice. Are yellow headlights and foglights a JDM thing or just a taste preference?
I've seen a few cars with them and I get it's not for everyone so flame(suit) on! |
yellow light penetrates through the fog better.

There are two classes of race cars in the 24 hour Daytona race racing at the same time but not in competition with each other. The GT cars have yellow headlights and the Daytona prototype cars have white headlights. This way you can tell at night by the color of the headlights of the car behind you if this is a car you are competing with for position or not.

And...which one to get the hell out of the way!
Yellow? ...pretty cheesy on the street. |

I'm gonna try it out anyway just to see how it looks. It can always be removed later if it's too cheesy. I'll throw some pictures up when I get the chance.

I've seen yellows back in the early 80's so that's been done and around for a while. Works great in the rain (and someone said fog too). It has function but the look is discouraging IMHO.

It MIGHT match, if we had yellow in our heads/tails/signal lenses.

OP I absolutely despise yellow headlights. Every time I see one I don't care what car it is, I cringe. It just looks like absolute trash on any car. |
