370z 6spd recall?

I just heard there's a recall on 6spd 370z's only. Wondering if any1 else heard the same thing. My dealership said they won't have any details until saturday whether it's true or not. Granted this is word-of-mouth, so hopefully is incorrect.

Doubt it, there was only one 6MT I heard of having issues and that was the 370Z edmunds has as their long term tester.

Why would you assume that if there were issues that you'd know of them? Just so we know where you're coming from...

It wouldn't be because I'd know of them, it's just being logical. You think any car manufacturer would issue a recall on a part that hasn't been reported extensively as defective? Or a recall on a part that doesn't pose a significant safety concern?

shabarivas 07-27-2009 04:18 PM

there is another thread that is talking about some fuel lines cracking???

Both probably posted by a General Motors employee.

I predict 20 more pages of irrational speculation...:shakes head:

If this was official i think Nissan USA would of released a detailed log as to why there is a recall. I haven't heard of anything like this at all. I can be wrong also though don't get me wrong.

Yes, they do. Their engineering departments sometimes discover issues that have the potential for future major liability to the manufacturer even though there have been no reported actual occurances, and the manufacturer may decide to preemptively fix the problem with a recall. This is not uncommon.

I agree, happen with my celica, toyota issued a master break cylinder recall cuz it had the potential to leak.
that being said, i think a good place to look for potential recalls is from the g37 since it has the same engine.

GingaBreadMan 07-27-2009 07:00 PM

I was told it was a transmission issue. I didn't get any specific details so let's not panic. I know the Camaro SS had a transmission recall so I made sure they weren't talking about that. This is a guy I know from the gym, so I don't know how reliable his source is. Just had 2 check with u guys cus you are all great with stuff like this.

Apparently not very reliable because theres no 370Z recalls yet.

No, you have the Z mistaken for a Camaro.

Nissan doesn't have those kinds of QC issues. :)

Viera 07-27-2009 08:44 PM

Didn't hear about this. Keep us posted.

Nissan hasn't released ANY TSB on this issue. Almost 6700 Miles on my 6MT and it's smooth as butter. SRM works perfectly every single time. I highly doubt there will be a TSB but don't forget to ask your dealer on Saturday morning ;).

I've yet to cause it, and trust me, I tried - enough to where if a LEO was watching I could have gotten some serious citations, if not the car impounded and a few points on my license...

Granted, I didn't go on a TRACK, which is the only place I know of where people have gone that have tripped limp-mode. :tiphat:

Lug 07-28-2009 01:48 PM

I've read somewhere that except for the SRM, the manual is the exact same as the previous tranny in the 350Z. Anybody heard any different?

JungleB 07-28-2009 04:22 PM

I believe it's law that the manufacturer has to make an attempt to contact all owners to notify them of recalls. I've always gotten them for my VW and if there's a recall for the 370 6mt then all the owners here will be recieve something in the mail.

Just might be very close to the truth. At the time the 2005 and 2006 Mustang GT was giving Ford huge quarterly gains there reportedly was a faction of GM die-hards that started to post various "fake" recall reports on the Mustang boards because they were disgruntled with the fact the GM program had been killed off 2 years earlier. Their goal was to alledgedly try to strike fear into people considering to buy the newly released (at that time) 2005 Mustang.

Now there is a situation where the new Camero is out and there is in fact a recall on the manual transmissions which has stopped the Camero MT production...which has GM scrambling in desparation mode given their bankruptcy and their hoping the Camero window of selling opportunity won't be missed as they are hoping the new Camero would help save them like the Mustang did Ford in 2005.......and at this very moment the Nissan 370Z just so happens to be sweeping the car magazine reviews.....kinda of suspiciously coincidental don't ya think?

Makes me wonder given the timing of GM's financial crisis and Camero recall woes coupled with the great reviews the 370Z has been getting coupled again with the history of fake recall reports crap the GM zealots pulled on the 2005 Mustang's introduction.

That sounds legitimate. In any case I am amazed by my 370 and am very pleased. I didn't expect the amount of attention I'm getting. Guess I was a little naive about how much admiration the vehicle has.

You've got this whole alleged scheme put together but can't even spell Camaro... Real credible...

Yeah, real legitimate... You know, a lot of people probably think that the 370Z is a piece of **** because "reportedly" it has this huge overheating problem - does that sound legitimate too?

How about sticking to facts - not rumors and half-truths. One of you starts out with "reportedly" and ends up with his theory that GM is starting fake recall reports. And someone else actually states that this scenario "sounds legitimate". Sheesh...

We are doing something called "speculation". No one here is saying that it is true....we are just making note of the gathering circumstances around which create a possible scenario.....And who gives a ratz -azz that I spelled "Camaro" wrong...you knew exactly what car I was referring to so what's your stupid :icon14: point?? Mispelling something doesn't automatically negate any possibility or probability about what is being discussed. Its people like you that always have to knit-pick in order to create an axe-grinding situation with someone because they hate the fact they were born into this world....So get a life and grow a pair...
