I don't normally either, but I like to keep things to remember about my cars, especially the ones that are hard or cannot get here.

I just ran the VIN on my old 2011 G37S coupe - that was rear ended with 2k miles on it to the tune of 12k in damage. VIN came up clean. And showed a second owner.

Not buying it. Literally. But I guess they did.

Good find!

Two of my vehicles had accidents but neither one showed that on the report.

Guys, I don't understand why you guys keep asking... They aren't reported just because... The only time repairs and accidents are reported is when the repair shop decides to report it.

My dad's Highlander has been in 20 fender benders, clean title because he goes to a shady repair place. My mom's Lexus has been in 3-5 fender benders, all hitting poles and crap, but clean title

I don't think it was really meant to show a complete history of the car, just more for something cool to look up and also to help someone buying to see the mileage/owner information.

I just looked up my 2011 Z which was a lemon and I had it in NY, found out it went to auction in PA, Titled in FL, then finally registered and titled in Baton Rouge, LA. Interesting, wonder if that person is a member here lol.

It's trippy to see how some of these cars travel! One of my old cars I had in HI (e46m3), ended up in NM! My guess it was an Military person who took it over.....

my old rsx was in an accident less than a year after i sold it. now it's in canada with a rebuilt/salvage title. poor car :shakes head:

I looked up my old 350z for the hell of it,it seems that a couple of hot blondes in bikinis robbed a bank and then changed the color of the car then they met up with some other chicks in hollywood at a mansion and had a wild lesbo party.

i did find something interesting with this utility, the dealer i ordered my Z from just today gave me the VIN for my Z and when i put the VIN into this utility of course it doesnt bring up any records of it being registered at the DMV or anything, but i found it very interesting that its bringing up my VIN as being a model year 2014 Nissan 370Z

all 370 VIN numbers are the same there are just a few unique characters that differentiate yours from all the rest. so for instance, all 2010 anniversary edition 370's will have the same exact VIN information stating the year make and model of the car but the last five digits (guessing 5) of the VIN number will be different.

i just looked up on how to decipher a VIN and according to information i looked up the 10th digit of the VIN number indicates the model year of the vehicle no matter who the manufacturer is and according to the table i found my Z is in fact a 2014 as the 10th digit of my VIN is "E" which corresponds to a 2014 model year vehicle. Seems kinda weird that Nissan would be producing 2014's already unless my dealer has a big suprise in store for me and actually got ahold of one of the first 2014's off the line which would be totally awesome IMO :D

oh and here's the link to the website where i found the info http://www.researchmaniacs.com/VIN/VIN-Decoder.html
