Dealer wants to buy my car?
I don't know if this has happened to you or it may be just a ploy by the dealership, but I've gotten phone calls and letters in the past month or so offering to buy my Z. Seems kind of odd and my first instinct was to assume some trick to get me to buy a new Z. They were offering a pretty good price to be honest, but I'd never sell her. When the sales rep called however, he claimed someone was in fact looking for my particular car.... which kind of made me curious on it's validity. It does seem plausible since the price for the new ones have jumped recently, but I'm still skeptical.

I get those all the time, a lot for my G37 IPL (which I don't even own any more). They are just trying tyo get you in there to sell you a new car.

Sounds like a sales trick. I get the same mailings from the dealership I bought my first Z from.
|
Yup, I still get them from my Dealership in Texas that I bought my Altima from.

Very common. I get them as well however I think that there was someone on here recently that took advantage of that by trading in their 2012 for a 2013 and ended only paying like an extra $100 a month. I think it is though that they are trying to get you in there to sell you a new one.

I was getting those a lot a while back, phone calls/letters/emails.
Bottom Line Up Front: Used Z (in nice condition) = Good for negotiation. Our cars turn heads, run well in the cold, and SERIOUSLY stand out in the sports car world. It makes the money-careful consumer lean a little closer. Apparently in Fife, WA where I got my Z, sales began booming in late 2009-early 2010. When sales fell, visitors to the dealership were asked "Why not the Z?" and their response was outright "Too expensive." I've been on email distro with the manager since I bought it. He mentioned when he took used Z cars, cleaned them up, threw some shiny 19's on them and put them out front. The sales took off faster than expected. I figured it's a regional thing, however. The Z was gaining SERIOUS momentum in the Northwest from 2009-2010. How it rivaled the Impreza STI, and openly challenged both the Mustang and Audi TT drew in buyers (myself included) likes dogs on bacon! :icon17: |
Funny, the dealership I bought my Z from just called me asking if I wanted to step up to a GTR. They will give me top dollar on my Z! lol Funny that I just had posted in this thread. My salesman knows I keep looking at the GTR's every time I go in for service.

Yeah, it's a sales ploy.
At the exact same time, we get mailers that say "We're in desperate need of 2009 370z's!" and "We're in desperate need of 2008 Nissan Altimas!" from Lancaster Nissan. What a coincidence... |
ive gotten those too. they just want to buy mine so that i come back and buy something else.
i just toss those out. |
i get them that say the dealership will pay me $1000 over the kelly blue book value.
ehhh unless theres a redesign im keeping her. |

I got a letter from a Nissan dealership (not even the one I actually bought my car from) the other day saying Nissan is having a major Buy-Back event to keep up with the demand for used cars... They would put me in a New Nissan with 0% interest for 60 months...
Doesn't matter to me since I'm no longer near that dealership, but it might have something to do with your situation... :ugh2: |
All of that is just nonsense. I get that all the time in mail, email, and phone call form. They are just trying to lure you into the dealership to give you a shitty deal. The funny thing is that they even continue to send me mail for deals and buying back cars I no longer even own. It's all a dealer tactic.

It is a good deal if you are in the market for a new car. I was looking to trade my G in on a Z and I got a call from a local Nissan dealership. They told me that they would give me 10% over KBB. So I went to Carmax first and had them quote me what they would buy my car for, then I went to Nissan and they gave me $3200 more than what Carmax offered me so I jumped on the Z!
|
I get them all the time. There's a much higher demand for used Z's than new ones. But at the end of the day it's all about getting you in another car.
