Did you ever do this with your Z?

Several times when I was in a hurry , I have jumped in my Z, pushed in the clutch and pushed the radio button to start the car.

I have jammed my fingers a few times when trying to use a detail spray and micro fiber towel to get up underneath the rear spoiler. There are a couple of tight little places up in there.

I have also had a hard time pressing the right sequence of the 2 buttons when a maintenance message pops up for an oil change etc. in order to re-set them

chrischhorn 05-22-2013 01:36 PM

nope- never done the radio thing.
I also have no spoiler.
I don't use the maintence stuff. I use windshield stickers.

yah, i hate those 2 button too. it's a stupid setup for sure. the should've just use a single infinite dial with push-button.

isayimandrew 05-22-2013 01:40 PM

Nope. ive never pushed the radio button instead of my start button either.
Spoiler is a pain to clean at times
No problem with the buttons

pbhakta 05-22-2013 02:06 PM

Never done the radio button
I have almost jammed my finger trying to dry the car under the spolier a few times
Really hate the two buttons as well

TheGreatOne 05-22-2013 02:30 PM

Haven't done the radio instead of push start but I have done the radio instead of AC control since with NAV they are the same size lol

frost 05-22-2013 02:44 PM

No, no, yes.

forza370z 05-22-2013 02:50 PM

No, No and No. But I often have this moment when I saw an incoming z and trying to stick out a peace sign but forgot the window is not rolled down. Ouch...:rofl2:

No, no and no.

My radio was almost always off when I turn my car off. I try to be gentle, slow on the car and not rush cleaning/wiping. I've never had to reset my reminders yet, but that menu in general is a PITA to remember.

1) No. Solution = plan ahead so you're not in a rush.

2) No. Solution = don't be a tool, use the right tool.

3) Okay you got me on this one...my line of sight to these buttons is directly blocked by my steering wheel position so I can't see the little symbols on the buttons. I guess wrong about 90% of the time so I just avoid changing that display at all cost. I set that MFD to the outside temp and I use the NAV for the maintanance reminders and realtime MPG junk. Only touch those buttons twice a year now to change the time on the stupid triple gauge.

The radio one made me laugh

RN SHARK 05-22-2013 05:35 PM

You need to slow down. Just take a deep breath. It'll all be ok.

madwi 05-22-2013 07:47 PM

I'm too old to be jumping in and out of the Z fast enough to think the radio button is the starter lol. I have a couple pairs of microfiber gloves for working around the spoiler area and other hard to reach spots. Works great for me and is easy to remove polish/wax from those hard to reach areas. I haven't had to try and turn off the oil change warning but i'm sure I will curse a couple of times trying to clear it the first time.

ElVee 05-22-2013 07:55 PM

Nope.

But I do catch myself reaching to hit the Start button when I want to mute. There should've been a mute button on the steering wheel controls.

blackcherry20 05-22-2013 08:15 PM

I threw a wine cooler against my Z28 window once. It was up.
Does that count?

I've come close to turning off the car a few times...

I have a Pioneer Avic-F700 headunit and you push in the volume wheel to trigger the voice command prompt. Since the volume wheel and start button are less than two inches apart I have found my finger hovering over the wrong button when I don't look down to push the button.

That could of been bad in the middle of traffic.

Oh you're a special breed. Did the dealer give you a helmet on the way out???

Jk.. I mean, these are pretty funny problems, and if it happens enough for you to have to make a thread about it, well idk lol.

However, one time I did press the start button while driving because, in a panic, I needed to shut the music off lol. Luckily the car didn't shut off.

snowsurfdirtx 05-23-2013 02:22 AM

i always screw up the steering wheel volume. i think the track / station up/down switch should be volume and the volume should be for switching track / station. id swap them if i could figure it out lol

and yeah, done the slam hand into window trying to wave thing. i have a wrangler, and i'm used to doing the jeep wave. not many Z's wave back. lol

does anyone else get a kick out of the rear view camera and seeing the exhaust when its cold out? dat dual exhaust doe. lol

Mr&Mrs 05-23-2013 04:28 AM

I use cotton swabs in the hard to reach spots of the wing. Never tried to start the car with any other button.

Does your radio button light up with "Start Stop"?
