Yep, 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon 0-60 mph 4.2 Quarter Mile 12.5
That's pretty quick and your going to enjoy that. In the corners they are fairly good and can be made to really handle. The problem is that your wife will complain that the ride is too rough. Now, if you have magnetic ride just leave well enough alone and put into competition mode. That is good enough for a cross over vehicle and find the money for a real auto cross car. Maybe a good C4 used cheap with a SC. That would make a awesome autocross car. Or, if the budget doesn't allow get a Miata for autocross. I do not think the Caddy is going to make a great autocross car. They tend to blow their air bags. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7-osPfx7Vo However, on the strip I'm always impressed. Congrats on your purchase. |
/\ I'm hoping that airbag deployment was just a fluke. In any event, Cadillac would have to replace the system under warranty if there wasn't an impact.
My wife is actually thrilled, save the price. She hated the Z. |

The airbag deployment is a GM thing, it has happened with the Camaro and the Caddie in auto-x type environments. Not sure if there has been a recall or not yet but something to look out for.

My wife gets sick in my Z. "I can't stand the G's." :roflpuke2: So when I tour with her it's in the SL500 I picked up used a few months back. Fun convertible. However, still no room for human kids. Works well for birds and dogs though. |

I guess that makes sense for load carrying capacity. I too thought it was the air bag inside when I saw the video. |
Nice ride mate, Congrats!!
|
Yeah, the airbag issue is real and gets triggered when there is a quick G load transition (think chicane). The good news is that pulling the airbag fuse solves the problem while tracking and then reinstalling the fuse reverses things without any extra steps. Easy enough.
I do miss the steering of the Z. I've driven a lot of cars and I think the Z's steering feel and weight is right up there at the top. |
They knock 10k off for the paint? :roflpuke2:
Sorry, love the car but dear lord the color! |

The color is sick imo. I may be a little biased driving a brilliant silver Z though.
I saw a black cady wagon and its paint was crazy looking up close with the specs reflecting in the sunlight! |
The Future
Somewhere in 2017 I will be contemplating the next generation CTS-V coupe or a used 2015 C7 Corvette.
|
Man! I hate to see you go. Thanks for the times you helped me. At least you got a well round car.
|
Exact way I dream of owning this car. Congrats on what is probably the best sleeper you can buy from a normal car company.
|
I bet you are still loving the V wagon after having some time to get acquainted to it. I was contemplating getting a manual V wagon, but decided on the 2014 Jeep SRT. Hopefully confirming the deal this week. Unlike the wagon, it can tow 7200lbs, so I can tow the Z to the track! I love that America is producing these vehicles with necessary room powered by completely unnecessary powertrains. Enjoy it!

http://www.the370z.com/members/rn-sh...e68551-srt.jpg It is a bit different driving these heavy grocery-getters, isn't it OP? But damn, it's fun. |
If you're going to replace Z with something practical that's how you do it.
Sent from my carrier pigeon |

Here are a few pictures of my friends CTS-V coupe. It has @750WHP and is a "one-off" becuase of the color combinations. The body color was not available with the wheels and calipers he wanted, so his contact at GM helped him have it built the way he wanted it.
These are bada$$ cars no matter which one you get . |
Good luck

Thanks guys. The V is a hoot. She's not nimble like the Z but she can eat freeway with the best of the autobahn burners. Just drove her to Florida during our move and spent a day around the tail of the dragon. So fun!
Ownership isn't without it's woes though. I've already had the rear carrier replaced for a whining noise (now fixed) and the steering wheel is never straight. GM has been all over fixing it though. Now we're getting two new front tires under warranty for presumed radial pull. It's all fine though when I plant the go pedal and she leaves rubber strips through three gears. She's already been voted fastest grocery getter in Naples FL. I still get pangs every time I see a Z go by though. http://www.the370z.com/members/spear...c-c-naples.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/spear...ser-posing.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/spear...69055-turn.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/spear...ering-rear.jpg |
Beautiful color. I see quite a few V's out here in California, but I have never seen that color. And I understand the woes too. My SRT is at the dealer as we speak...got a Chrysler 200 rental. :shakes head:

I don't have a lot of money, so the "Z" was the choice for me. My "Z" is a lot of fun to drive and I never worry about the price of gas since it gets great gas mileage.

What camera are you using? Great great pics

The two photos of the V cornering were taken by US-129 Photography (one of two 'companies' that snap photos of every car that goes down the Dragon every day of the year and then sells them online). The one with me standing by the car is with a Nikon D800. I used two remote flashes to illuminate the car and me since the sun was at my back. Top photo was a camera phone.

|

|
Love old people! My job depends on them.
|
Just gotta say Thank You for all the DIYs; you sure helped a lot of people.
Enjoy your new ride and adventure! |
Don't know if you saw this but the 2014 V is going to be a 6cyl TT.
