Would you sell a rare part...

I've been kicking around the idea of selling my exhaust as of late but I fear regretting it after the fact. Wanted to throw it to the public forum and see what your thoughts are, would you sell something that you know you could never buy/own again?

Haboob 05-14-2013 01:48 PM

If it's just sitting in the garage? Yes, I most likely would. Especially if I've replaced it with something else and don't have plans for putting it back on in the near future, or ever.

If it's on my car, and I like it, hell no.

Going back to stock or are you getting something even better off the Doran car?

Either way I'd sell it, just make sure you factor the "rareness" into the price. With some of the "rare parts" type people on here you could probably make a killing.

DEpointfive0 05-14-2013 01:53 PM

What exhaust is it? What will you replace it with?

Not sure what I would replace it with, not stock but nothing ultra fancy either.

ooo u have the RC exhaust right... that is a tough one. thats like the rarest of the rare right there... but personally, i think there are much better looking exhausts out there (i cant speak for the sound). if u want something that looks a little more finished i'd say do it. as stated above, u will make enough money off selling this rare piece to pay for any system u want.

i think performance gains or losses will be minimal either way

u looking for better sound or what?

I might be willing to part with my OEM Nismo CBE if you're interested.

I'm not that crazy (or rich). Wasn't looking to trade just sell. I'm pretty happy with my FI CBE.

Car parts' value will less likely to increase overtime, personally i would sell it when it is still fairly new. If you are not gonna use it anyways.

Normally this is true but since this is the CBE off the only Nismo RC in the US I'd have to say it will always be highly valuable.

I would imagine so, hence why I'm assuming I wouldn't be able to get another one. I've had it on the car for a year and love it (insane exhaust note).... but I could put the money to better use for certain.

Personnally, I would sell a rare part that I BOUGHT. I would however say if you BUILT a piece, from nothing, with your own 2 hands, keep it, it's like your little love-child:icon17:.

I'm just optomistic about my Z. I like to keep consistently upgrading, and I don't have a "final condition" that I can see the car in (one where I may regret selling a rare part).

Heck, I could see myself going carbon all around, then switching to luxury all around, then to race, etc. But I'm not attached to any particular part on the car. It's the memories, telling stories and talking car stuff with the people I care about that matters to me.

But i'm wierd so .....yeah :icon17:

Makes perfect sense, you love the project more than the end result. I can relate to that.
