^Good Format

Age 16 (1999):
1991 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Auto- Piece Of ****, dumped it at 65k miles due to realibility issues

Age 16-22 (1999-2005)
1995 Nissan Maxima SE Pearl White/Tan Leather 5spd - Love for Nissan began. Ran the car hard til 160k miles. Great Car!

Age 22-25 (2005-2008)
2003 Nissan 350z Touring Magnetic Black/Burnt Orange Leather 6spd- Best car I ever had, all engine work, suspension, track car! T-Boned, totalled! This is where I lost my car identity.

Age 25 (2008)
2007 Acura TL Type-S Auto - Very Nice, Great car, a little too old manish for me at the time. Was not ready for an automatic yet. Sold after 4 months.

Age 25-28 (2008 - 2011)
2004 Audi S4 Silver 6spd - Awesome car, did great in all weather. AWD with V8 was awesome. Horrible gas mileage, super costly to maintain. I got my German fix, and bailed.

Current (2011 - Beyond)
2009 Pearl White 370z Touring w/ Sport Package - I found my car identity again. This is a great car, good MPG for a sports car, just as fast as my old modded 350z, but better all around. Just getting into modding it now.

For your comic relief:
1996 - 1983 Toyota Supra - First car decent car. Should have kept it.

1997 - 1984 Dodge Daytona - Should have kept the Supra. It broke often. Wrecking it probably didn't help.

1998 - 1984 Jeep Cherokee - A real rust bucket. I could lift the carpet and see the road.

1999 - ?? Geo Metro - Engine would not stay on engine mounts and dropped out of car... This car lasted about 3 months. Gas mileage was great! Because it didnt run much.

1999 - 1983 Rampage - Replacement for the metro... Wow this was a work of art. Look it up.

1999 - 1972 Datsun 240z - Love at first sight. Couldnt afford to keep it road worthy.

2000 - 1987 Ford Thunderbird "Turbo chicken" - Replaced the Z. Really clean car was a dog! Gave it to my brother.

2001 - 1992 Dodge Daytona - I went back for more punishment from Dodge. The car looked ok... But I replaced many items to make it run. Eventually I got sick of replacing things. I started cutting off things that stopped working like power steering, air conditioning unit.... etc.

2002 - 2002 Yamaha R6 - First brand new pride and joy. Rode this for many years. Until about 2007. Someone stole it. It was found last year (2010) in Florida. Oh well.

2005 - 1990 Toyota Corolla - Winter beater while I rode my bike. I could not kill this car. I drove it damn hard too. I did eventually found a way. I drove through a flooded parking lot trying to avoid a flooded road during a bad storm. WIN! I would not buy a car until it died so it really worked out.

2008 - 2004 Dodge Stratus - I hate Dodge but I got a good deal. I sold it asap for the car below.

2010 - 2009 Nissan 370z - Ummm... best car yet.

ok i'll bite

2004-2005: 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5S, bought used and was a good car

2005-2008: 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5SE, loved the power that this car had for a sedan but got a little expensive to maintain after about the 160k mark

2008-2011: 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, bought used, was a previous rental car but still pretty good car apart from creaks and rattles, but got good gas mileage and cheap to maintain

2011-forever: My pride and joy, 2011 Nissan 370Z in just the color i wanted (Monterey Blue) and with the options i wanted and i could not be happier, will be definitely holding on to this car even if i get something else after it :)

Ok I'm curious so I have to ask. After reading this thread it seems like most people have owned more everyday, pedestrian cars than performance or sports cars. Also, I have noticed that most people who responded have only on average one or two sports/performance cars.

Is the average Z owner young where they have not owned many cars? Were you guys car enthusiasts before getting the Z or only after getting it?

I ask because on the other forums I'm a member (Rennlist, 6Speed, Audi World etc), the average person on there had many, many prior sports cars. No offense to anyone, don't sue me for asking but I'm curious. What do you guys think??

no offense taken here...for me personally and maybe a few others i imagine, it was more a factor of what i could afford at the time. my first car was chosen because it was cheap, cheap to maintain and easy on the wallet when it came to gas which all worked for me cause at the time i was going through school and working at a fast food joint. my second car was a little bit of a mistake as i was young at the time and let the dealer talk me into it thinking that they were going to "pay off" my first car, i didnt know anything about negative equity at the time nor did anyone tell me about it, but i thought i could afford it cause i had moved to another job at that time which paid better than fast food so i thought i could handle it. Needless to say that lasted for about 3 years until after having to drive it so much for work started leading to very expensive repair costs so i ended up having to let it go which lead to my downgrade again to a more affordable and cheaper to maintain car which was my 3rd car. This time i stuck to my guns and paid off the entire car, finished school, got a much better job, saved up for a while and then put a nice down payment on something i really wanted and it was soooo worth it :D

I've always loved performance cars. So far I've been lucky and the worst I've had is a 93 Lightning. Some may knock it, but it was an outstanding street truck. Before that I had a couple second gen MR-2 turbos. I can see the possibility of a non performance car in the future when I have a family and need to carry more than myself and another person. But I also don't see myself ever being at the point where I won't have a sports car of some sort. I hope to pay off the Z before I get married and at that point I won't be giving it up for a family sedan.
