1993 MR-2 turbo (stock)
1991 MR-2 turbo (330 whp)
1993 F150 Lightning (stock)
2011 370Z

Learned my lesson with heavily modified cars on that second MR-2. My Z is staying stock till it is paid off and then i only plan on doing basic bolt-ons. I would like to get a bare block and build an engine but i don't see that happening for a while.

^ Skeeter.... nice history of rides there, bo. I was planning on going SC or TT in the future. Can you please share your experiences with going with deep mods? Sounds like it was pretty negative? Can you elaborate? I am looking to go FI, but hoping to do a basic bolt on package, but trying to stay stock everywhere else, and still be somewhat reliable. Am I dreaming?

Haha..yeah..NJ is not the best of states in terms of auto burglary.

I have since moved to an apt complex and she (Z) sleeps in a private indoor parking deck nowadays..

the steering was numb, throttle response was non existence... clutch engagement was weird, the power delivery was way too linear. it did not feel like a sports car at all.

i bought the car brand new in 06, i kept it for 2 months before i sold it on my350z.com. i hope i didn't offend any 350z owners here, but i truly thought it was a boring car.

Going deep on mods isn't always a bad thing. The biggest thing is that you absolutely must stay on top of your maintenance. The biggest problem for me was that it was my DD as well. I know some people drive heavily modified cars as a DD, but if I had it to do over again I would have had a beater as well. I had the car getting worked on almost as much as I drove it. The last straw was when I had to replace the clutch twice. The first time was because the clutch couldn't handle the power. Then that clutch had a manufacturing defect and had to be replaced. I would like to add a SC/tt but it will wait until I get the car paid off and have a beater to drive.

Maintenance? I thought even/when you go FI, it's still the same basic maintenance, esp with turbos that are self-contained for example.... And basically, it's just check belts every so often, monitoring ratios, etc.... then staying on top of oil changes and other normal stuff.

What maintenance did you speak of?
