nope not when parents are paying for everyother aspect of your life. Not saying you are not working and making money for the car. But if you had real grownup bills and expences you could not buy this car.

You're exactly right. I kick my self in the butt everyday for selling that car that was given to me for FREE. I wish I would have kept it all along but I was foolish, and my parents were really pissed and pretty much disowned me for awhile. I ended up selling the 350z because I couldn't afford the payments. Yeah I wasn't too smart. Then I got a stable job and decided to try again..that's when I bought the 370. Oh how I would love to not have a car payment...and all the money I've spent on past cars.. I could probably have my z payed off right now. yep. live and learn. should have listened to dad

Not saying that isn't true.. But I do have bills now. I have a little two bedroom apartment I share with a friend and it's pretty tough getting by.

So you couldn't afford the 350 so you sold it. Now you drive a 370 and are barely able to get by. It looks to me you haven't learned your lesson kiddo. You're about to fail out of the school of hard knocks.

I payed for everything I had then, except food, living and clothes. I paid cell phone, car payment, insurance... I assume any family nowa days will at least give their kids that. You're acting like your mom made you pay for everything down to your toothpaste? Jeez...if you had it hard you don't have to take it out on me. I am living on my own now and pay for everything, but my mom still buys me a little something on my birthday :p does that still make me a rich kid? lol I don't even make enough to afford to eat out with my girlfriend lol :/ My Z is more than 60% of my income.
Oh and I didn't pay any taxes on my tips.. The boss at that time didn't make us record our tips or mileage. He is fired now lol

Lol, that initial kick in the *** financially is always a huge help in life - moreso than you think, it'd seem. I had to pay for all my clothes and any food I ate that my stepdad didnt make (which was a lot, if you dont like his Austrian cooking). I sure as hell didnt pull in 1500 a month, but I did make a respectable 1100 or so at your age (this was also back in 2001 btw). If I didnt have to pay for all my clothes, gas, insurance and all the other goodies that Im sure you had help with, life would have been MUCH easier back then. This story echos true for many other people, no doubt.

BTW, a "little something" for my birthday was about $50. If you say you got $50 for your birthday, I will call you a liar. Again, this is not a bad thing - but you had things easier than many of us, and thats the bottom line. Dont brag about it, just be happy you did.

Well the 350 was like 90% of my income. The 370z isn't too bad...I think it's worth it. It's the insurance that kills me. Cars are my life and I'm willing to suffer a little in other areas because of that. I'm going steady and have scholarships to pay for college. Thinking about going into mortuary science :ugh2:

Man, I sure wish my free Geo Spectrum passed the NY inspection the following year. I'd have driven the living crap out of that car. Mechanically it was perfect...but my dad barely drove it in the winter, and well...its Geo quality haha. So that sucker rusted in no time. Man, it was a 5-speed, great on gas, and a fun little hatchback. I'd have driven it into the ground...which I suppose I did.

I remember saying the same thing you did, when I got my first new car. After the Geo, I blew $4K on a Lumina, which was a nice car but I wish I kept it in the end. I then bought a new Cavalier, which was pretty expensive for my current paycheck, but I knew I was going into the military soon so I could afford it. But it was such a dumb idea - I should have just kept the stupid Lumina. Oh well. That was a lot of money down the drain.

I think he's saying you shouldn't of bought the Z to begin with. The 350 or 370 for that matter

Well I know that, but it's a little late :shakes head: and honestly if I wasn't waiting for parts (Wheels and lip kit) for 5 months, like I have been, I probably would have sold it.

What fullmonty said. But christ, look at your mod list dude. You've obviously got money coming from SOMEWHERE, cause I know Im pretty good off in my situation and I dont have money to blow on all that ****. If you'd pay your car off instead of mod the crap out of it, you'd be much better off.
