Front Plate?

Do you guys have front plates on the z's? I keep getting pulled over for not having it, but i really don't want to put it on? Have you guys ever got harrased for not having it on. I live in New Jersey so it's manditory to have it on both the front and back. Oh well :driving:

Wonka2581 05-02-2013 10:28 PM

Well brother if you don't want to keep on getting pulled over, and it's the law where you live I would bite the bullet and put the front plate on, I think stillen makes a front plate kit, or search for one... Or move to a state where you don't have to have a front plate, Just my 2 cents...

They are mandatory on California also.

Ah fellow Jersey Z. I didn't want to take any chances so I got the Stillen relocator kit. As much as I don't like seeing a front plate either. It doesn't look half bad. What part of NJ? I'm in Green Brook.

Cars definitely look better without front plates, but I'd rather not worry about getting pulled over every time I drive.

Check here if you're interested: Rho-plate

Z370Z011 05-02-2013 11:33 PM

Try the motorized "show n' go" license plates. If you dont mind spending the money, its a hell of a joke for the cop that pulls you over lol.

MrGump 05-02-2013 11:58 PM

No front plate, and haven't been pulled over yet. I expect to be though, and I'll pay the no front plate tax. Hopefully it doesn't happen too often.

I do plan on getting something like that rho-plate for long road trips.

DLSTR 05-03-2013 12:01 AM

Put the plate on. The world doesnt end and your time is more valuable than being pulled over.
I have nice big Euro plates here in Germany. I still look back and admire my Z when parked. The plate is nothing. This is such a non issue.

kidkotic2001 05-03-2013 12:05 AM

I'm in Texas we need front plate but I just pay the tax fee lol

cooltoy 05-03-2013 12:11 AM

Don't have to have it in Alberta.

I have the screw brackets in place on mine but no plate on. Painted them black to match the plastic so you can't see them. If I get pulled over, screw it on and have the ticket signed off on, then off it comes again. Cops won't pull you over for just the front plate in most cases. They generally just add it to whatever infraction they pulled you over for. Mainly speeding.

axmea? 05-03-2013 02:23 AM

I have a Stillen bracket but took it off and have it sitting right behind the passenger seat. have a good excuse lined up - actually worked once already. Told the officer I just had my bumper fixed after being hit and just about ready to install it back.

Boost_lee 05-03-2013 02:30 AM

Required in TX, so I have the show-n-go plate just in case :)

axmea? 05-03-2013 02:36 AM

Boost. are the motors water proof and have decent power rating? Contemplated on that thing but not totally convinced. Could use some credible recommendations.

Excuse me for my ignorance but what is the show-n-go plate? is it just like what axmea mentioned?

i will do that too. i mean with axmea did. the only good thing right now is i have been using temporary tag, which is the paper, for 4 months now til end of June.. :) hopefully til september... LOL

Nailzs 05-03-2013 05:22 AM

Don't need front plates in Florida. :happydance:

JARblue 05-03-2013 09:41 AM

As mentioned, it is required in Texas. I don't like giving cops any reason to pull me over, so I installed it without the bracket. I just screwed the frame and plate directly into the black plastic piece, and I love that it doesn't project out in front of the car from the side view

I can't seem to find a side view photo, but here's a close up from the front of what I did.

I sure find it humorous when people black out their license plates in photos. I just don't see the point when tons of people see my license plate on a daily basis. I always wonder if those people cover up their plates whenever they park their cars :icon17:

You get manual ones or electric/remote ones

Amazon.com: show and go license plate

kenchan 05-03-2013 10:00 AM

you can still see something hanging under the car when you take a pict with that show-n-go, no?

i just use the factory plate bracket. i cover the plate black when i take picts as the plate is not very pretty with its ugly colors.

Another reason not to use the factory bracket

kenchan 05-03-2013 10:23 AM

but the factory bracket is nice. it's real abs plastic, not some faux abs. :icon17:

Living all my life in two plate NY my eye is used to seeing a front plate. I would go for a more discrete braket and use a plate cover but I would not want to deal with the time, worry or pay and get the plate. I guess my plate does make the car look like the tongue is sticking out.

SmokeEater27 05-03-2013 10:59 AM

just like Nailzs I only have to show my rear plate on the car, one of the few perks of living in florida  now on the other hand I have had the sheriffs pull me over for a tinted plate cover :shakes head:..Give and take i guess

kenchan 05-03-2013 11:11 AM

they should just make the damn plates a barcode. people take picts and the barcode app shows 'F-U' or something.

jokes aside, they should designate a gps tracking via toll transponder. this way no more need for stupid plates.

kielbasa16 05-03-2013 12:51 PM

I havent had a plate on my car since I got it, and have never been pulled over for it (in NY). Though one of the handful of times my mom took my car to work she got pulled over for no plate (just a warning), and mind you she drives like a grandma. At least thats what she tells me...

kenchan 05-03-2013 12:51 PM

why are you living with your mom...

I'm not. The Z does though. I prefer to leave it in the burbs than deal with it in the city where I live.

Regardless, my mom's the coolest!

I did just like you JAR. I never had one on the car when I was in Texas but they wouldn't pass my car for safety here in Hawaii without a front plate. I tried to zip tie onto the grill but they said it had to be "mounted." I wasn't about to argue with the tech so his jaw dropped when I asked for a drill and 2 screws. Went straight into the plastic piece as you did there and said "give me my f*ckin stickers." Signed off and I was on my way.

You can pick the motorized plate holder for $100 and they work great. Push a button/switch and the plate disappears or returns smoothly..

Waiz 05-03-2013 06:04 PM

I didn't have a front license plate for 5 years and just finally got popped last month :shakes head:

If you daily drive and have to park on the street for things you run the risk of getting caught
