Not in California, cell phone use in a car as long as it is hand held is illegal. I am actually happy about this but everyone still does it, and still drive like crap.

For some reason, it's in my DNA to believe that sport cars need to have manuals. Driving an auto sport car is like leaving the windows up on a convertible.
Driving stick in traffic does get a little old though.

Gotta go with the 6MT on this one. Heck, even the 'grocery getter' is a 5MT. Not much traffic to contend with out here in WY, and a paddle shifter AT is a little too video game for me. That being said, the 7AT is probably going to be metranome consistent on the track. Comes down to purity vs max efficiency. I'll take purity every day.

6MT:tup:

although paddle shifters are very tempting

At least you can have some mundane fun though. I am with you sports cars are sporty and as such should have a great sporty transmission 6mt ftmfw:werd:

6MT

I like to be in control.

jibSTir13 12-18-2008 02:37 PM

6MT here as well...

the joy i get from rowing through gears and downshifting is an important element a sports car must have...

i already have an auto i'd use for errands and lazy driving.

nogoodname 12-18-2008 02:39 PM

^^ but if you didnt have an auto already, would you still choose the MT???

nothix 12-18-2008 02:56 PM

I learned my lesson on my 5AT Z33, gotta go MT

shumby 12-18-2008 04:00 PM

my only issue with the AT is how much power you can give it when it comes time to turbo

i currently have a VW GTI with the automatic DSG transmission. My car before that was a stick and i loved it but i got a really good deal on this current GTI. I must say, i miss having a stick, a lot. However, the DSG is not a force to be reckon with. It shifts MUCH faster than any person driving a stick can and it's a lot more aggressive. It has paddle shifters too which is no joke. I raced my friend a couple of times who also has a GTI except with a stick and i beat him everytime.
Even the Car&Driver reviews all said it, the new DSG is much faster than even any professional driver can shift.
All that being said, i miss my manual tranny and if i get a 370z, it will be in a 6mt :)

 Am I less of a man... because I prefer the 7AT...?
