Local shop

So I just needed get ny inspection done. It starts with the mechanic hitting a bucket while driving into the shop. Then he doesn't even know where the jack points are!!! I'm already steaming over him hitting the bucket:mad:. Next thing he does is kick the lift's fork into the skirt and scratches it:eek:. Lowers the saddle after and believes he found the jack point. So he began to lift and the saddle doesn't catch but the lift's arm picks up on the skirt and warped the sh*t out of it:mad:. I told him to put it down and f*ck off. I drove it of the lift. Then the boss and another mechanic blamed the car for being to low. Can't make this sh*t up and they call themselves "advance auto sports".

Just needed to vent, thanks for reading.

Are they going to cover all the damage?

Bucketlist2012 04-12-2013 05:38 PM

WTF.....

I would be on the phone with the owner of the shop.

The car is too low ? Corvettes are Low, 370Z's are Low.

The car is not too low, the mechanics are too stupid...

KN21283 04-12-2013 05:40 PM

Nope, the skirt bounce back to shape. The scratches is what I was left with. I think the boss offer the inspection for free but I was so pissed I couldn't stay there another minute.

Leuz 04-12-2013 05:41 PM

Man sorry to hear, that's *effed* up. Make sure they pay the damage

KN21283 04-12-2013 05:42 PM

I'm at stock height. I couldn't take their stupid answers anymore. They always thinks you don't know Shiite so they try to feed the garbage excuses.

DarkJak 04-12-2013 06:41 PM

They definitely need to also pay for the damage they caused to your car. It's completely inexcusable if you are at stock height, and even if your car were slammed to the ground, they should be able to make the call on whether they are capable of getting it onto the lift. Even when I took my car to a tire shop to get a puncture patched, they took care to not scrape while putting it onto their lift and I'm on Swift. Definitely demand compensation for the scratches.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm going cool off and head back there tomorrow.

You'll probably be responsible for the deductible if you file a claim with your insurance co.

RoshDawg 04-13-2013 01:25 AM

Inexcusable. Don't take that **** get firm with them. I would be livid too.

they'll probably pretend they don't know you if you go back tomorrow.

This is why you need to know/go to a shop you can trust. Or worse case scenario, can't you take the car to a dealership for inspection?

SPOHN 04-13-2013 07:19 AM

I feel you pain. Make them pay or lawyer up.

I'm going to a car show today and being my car is low with the Stillen kit people always seem to kick the front lip trying to get a closer look to the engine bay. I do it everytime I'm around the car but it's different when it's not you. I know hypocrite. Not like you really going to hurt it.

I didn't realize my inspection expired and ate a ticket so I was just trying to get it done. With the dealer I would've had to make an appointment and I don't have much of a relationship with them either. I do most of my work and maintenance on the car.

So went back to the shop and spoke with the boss (bit of a language barrier). I'm not sure how to take his attitude but it was riling me up. Unapologetic and just didn't have much to say. He paid me and brush me off pretty much. The mechanic avoided me and didnt even acknowledge me. Same dumb look as yesterday. I guess I'll have to look up a shop before I get anything done. Even as simple as an inspection. Anyone know a respectable shop in queens or Long Island?

Oh yeah, I washed and wax the car a little while ago and the scratch is gone. Hahahaha I feel like I extorted him for the $$$.

Thanks again guys.
