Car camping all over the US in my z
 

Next week I start a six-month road trip in my 2011 silver manual 370z. Most of it is car camping. Any recommendations for favorite parks to camp at? I am going to all lower 48 states. Steintrek | My dream trip | April 16 departure | @steintrek

Ya should try to meet up with other Z members along the way for a breakfast,lunch or dinner and maybe a stay over to save cash ;)

Sound like fun! White mountain New Hampshire, Acadia park Maine are great places to Camp. Don't forget spray some "Off!" to your z too.:tup:

Maybe its just me, but car camping is so impractical and uncomfortable.. Especially in a Z. The road trip and driving sounds excellent, though i would rather sleep in a comfy bed at night, even in a cheapo motel.

But have a safe trip, and please take picutures.

I've got the first leg laid out. Although I live in NYC I want to start in West Virginia then to Kentucky then Tennessee and Alabama and head back north eventually to Indiana and Ohio. Good idea on meeting the other Z owners, one of the reasons I just joined the forum. By the time of my second leg I'll need good recommendations for places for maintenance.

Oh, there will be motels plenty. But I also have a really small tent, blowup air mattress, sleeping bag, and portable cooker. I'm 6'2, no way to sleep in the Z.

If you are going to be in Tennessee you might as well go to Arkansas and Missouri for the Ozarks. I could give you a ton of places to go in the Ozarks that have great camping.

IMHO......My idea of camping is The Holiday Inn.

Maine will be my last state. I wanted to save a little something special for last and have never done Acadia. So after I do the whole US I will slingshot right to the vacation state. I don't want to put the nose bra on the car so I guess it's sealants?

When in Arizona, I'd recommend (besides the Grand Canyon) Wave Rock, Meteor Crater, Williams (for Route 66)... there are a ton of things to see in Northern AZ.

All are Arkansas state or national parks and have good camping.

Beaver Dam
Buffalo River
There are a ton of great roads to drive and you should definitely drive 23 (Pig Trail) and 123 (Arkansas Dragon)

Sounds like a blast! I've always wanted to do a coast to coast road trip.

I did the cross country camping trek many years ago, but in a much crappier car! Eventually you'll get to a point where you don't even bother with the tent. Enjoy it man, it will be a great time.

Of all the cars to travel the US in! At least it isn't an Elise :P

I will be seeing you in SC, but its funny you said you will be saving Maine for last as thats where im from so i can certainly let you know some cool places to go when you spin by SOuth Carolina :)
