Gt channel article

not sure if this is a repost:

NISSAN Z: DEVELOPMENT OFFICIALLY STARTS! | GT Channel

The concept shape looks neat, I love the current one tho. And man... a diesel? :eekdance:

Z_ealot 04-02-2013 05:37 PM

do i smell the exhaust of a 3.0 litre turbo coming back our way? :D

SPOHN 04-02-2013 05:44 PM

Hmmmm. Hopefully TT. It would have to be to get the power. Hopefully direct port injection too.

Amuse370z 04-02-2013 06:00 PM

Maybe I need to put the Amuse kit on hold and make a trade for the new Z in 2-3 years.

(My car ('13) didn't even arrive yet....

A well engineered twin-scroll single turbo would work just as well and keep weight & cost down.

true, but it would also depend on how this new 3 litre engine that they say is in the works is designed too...for all we know a single turbo might not work as efficiently on it

Jordo! 04-02-2013 06:08 PM

Looks like an Aston.

Hmm. I will read this with great interest.

Having now read it: I doubt we'll get a diesel here -- no love for them in the US. A souped up/FI'd 3.0 engine could work, provided they trim st least 100 lbs off of the Z.

I can't imagine they'd make one that is slower than he current one, so whatever the final hp/tq figures, I think it's safe to say they will be looking for overall performance improvements wherever they can.

martin82 04-02-2013 07:16 PM

I want a v6 TT then i'll trade up, I could careless for mpg!

peleincubus 04-02-2013 07:19 PM

So is this probably coming out in 2015 as a 2016 model?? Sounds far away

ZKraken22 04-02-2013 07:22 PM

sounds and looks good!!

UruZai 04-02-2013 09:32 PM

That actually looks pretty good!
I wonder if they are still gonna make the "mini" Z...

XwChriswX 04-02-2013 10:25 PM

It's interesting how many different cars can be seen in a concept pre-production model.

From that pic I see 5 different cars as inspiration...

So far though, not impressed.

JungleZ 04-02-2013 10:41 PM

What do you guys think the price will be

Rusty 04-02-2013 10:56 PM

That picture is from somebody's imagination at the GT Channel. So forget about even thinking that is going to be anything like the new Z when it comes out.

axmea? 04-02-2013 10:57 PM

I'll wait for the 2018 model hoping to get the kinks out of the way.

ElVee 04-03-2013 08:48 AM

I don't try to fall in love with concepts, since they're rarely as-is when launched, but this particular concept, hate to say it, looks ugly and I'm not sure should be part of the Z family. It really does look like an Aston redone by a high school graphics department. Is that a Nike swoosh I see in the door? Diesel in the US doesn't make sense. And hybrid? Being an apartment-dweller, that doesn't impress me at all.

If you want to discuss sexy concepts, try the new Subaru WRX-cum-Evo concept. Now *that* is smexy.

:iagree: it is sexy :yum:
Although for some reason it reminds me of the GT-R...

i highly doubt that based on the displacement of the engine alone. All I'm saying is that i'll take either as long as it has F.i.

Ha ha ha... The Z34 still has kinks and it's almost over for it.

Cmike2780 04-03-2013 11:59 AM

I wouldn't give that rendering any thought on how it will actually look. Looks like it's just wishful thinking from someone at GT channel. Heck, I made my own a few months back, lol.

With the exception of the rear window. I think the rendering looks pretty close to what the design execs described what they are looking to accomplish. I think its a translation of what may come?

We're definitely getting the elongated hood.

Would love to see those rear haunches on the real Z.

JungleZ 04-03-2013 01:20 PM

We need to shed weight unknown!

I'm saying the main thing the new z needs is to shed a few hundred pounds I've seen you mention that before, I hope they can.

Dont worry about the weight part. That was the first thing Nissan guaranteed us. I'm sure we'll be in the 2,900-3,000 lb range when the next Z comes out.
