Rear Fog Light-Worthwhile?
I'd like to get the fog lamp for the black plastic covered socket in the back of my Z. Is the wiring process complicated/time consuming (not for helpless me, for a professional)? What's the total parts cost to get what is needed to have it blink when you brake and be lighted the rest of the time? Do you need an interior switch to activiate it or can all that extra work be avoided? Has it worked well for those who have installed it? Can it be bought on line or only through Nissan? Part name/number? Thanks in advance.

Z1 sells it, AND they sell a wiring kit. IMO their wiring kit is a rip off, but if you're hopeless (no disrespect), it's worth the money.
If you're going to go for it blinking, you have to get the blinking thing from a website, just google "3rd brake light flasher" ----IF you can wire a 3rd brake light flasher, the Z1 wiring kit is for sure a waste of money. As for the installation... You have to remove the interior plastics of the hatch (on one side), which kind of sucks if you haven't done it before, but it's not hard, more scary(?) As for it being lit THEN getting brighter/flashing, that's not a switch issue... You have to change the socket itself. From a 7440 to 7443. And the socket needs modification to fit the housing (let me find the write up) |

I would never have attempted to install my rear fog, I am clueless when it comes to that stuff. I had a local steroe shop install mine about two weeks ago for 60bucks. I love the factory switch...the blank between my heated seats was annoying to look at. I would do it all over again, the black black cover was a horrible idea Nissan. expensive mod for no hp gain but definitely a plus in aesthetics.

I like it for its stated purpose. It is a nice safety measure for a foggy day. It's an annoyance to people behind you on a clear night, but if you drive in foggy/rainy and miserable conditions, it is one of the first thing people behind you will see!
