Dealers must think we are idiots

Case in point. While in for my previous oil change, they did their regular "multi point inspection" and said I needed new wipers, (which I had just replaced myself), and my front tires were at 4 out of 10 as far as wear and recommended new tires. Of course I declined. Yesterday I took it in for it's scheduled oil change and somehow got new front tires....they now measured a 10. I must have the best car ever made. My tires are getting better with increased mileage. I wish I could find a really good neighborhood shop that understands higher performance cars and never visit a dealership again.

No, they're just lazy
You're taking their laziness and blowing it out of proportion

had the same thing happen to me at buena park nissan which is why i never went back to them and also picked up an inexpensive tread depth gauge from the auto parts store for my tires

How dare you not trust what the stealerahip says

B&W_Evader 03-29-2013 05:32 PM

More like a fool. What's that saying... a fool and his money are soon separated.

I cancelled my service contract because I figured it was just a way to upsale you on other things your car "needed".

SS_Firehawk 03-29-2013 05:37 PM

They said my windshield wiper fluid worked and I have no reservoir. They didn't annotate the SES light that was on either. I told them their inspection is crap and should actually do one next time.

kfull 03-29-2013 06:21 PM

You should have asked them to change your blinker fluid

Wonka2581 03-29-2013 06:56 PM

dont forget to ask them to check your muffler bearings next time....:roflpuke2:

You have to realize that the guys who do the oil changes at dealerships are lube techs. They do about 10 maybe more cars a day and are trying to hurry and upsell stuff.

Volk Z 03-29-2013 07:40 PM

This is why changing your oil yourself is the best option. I just got some race ramps and it made it even easier!

My wife and I brought her Sonata in years ago after I literally changed the air filter like 3000 miles prior and remembered exactly what it was shaped like... Needless to say the service manager comes out and brings this massive air filter that wasn't for her car with acorns, more dirt/sand then I could ever imagine in an air filter and shows it to us.... I said wow that person needs to change their air filter to the guy and he says this is yours and I said... Really? Let's go back to the car and see if that fits... Who looked like the fool then ;) Not I... Oh that must have been another customers... Good comeback numbnuts

Do you shortcut your job too? If they say use this checklist and they claim to check something they didn't perform, I take issue.

My dealer wanted $400 dollars worth of various things including changing windshield wipers and inspecting seat belts, at 30,000 miles. I got it all done for $112 saved about $300..and I know this guy is honest and capable...which is a good find..second only to being able to do it yourself..

and tighten the tire stems!

I forgot to mentioned they had 3 GTRs in the showroom. I was shocked, since this was a suburban Chicago dealership. And actually a rather small showroom. Nice blue one for $100K+.
