New Owner with Car Problems already

Just bought my 370Z on Fri. Very happy with it, now less happy. Luckily nothing major I hope.
Went to set the clock (on the triple display) last evening and it resets to 1:00 every time car is turned off. No big deal, but it is a brand new car & it doesn't work right.
Then last night took it out for the 1st time at night. Gauges light up, but the hands on the gauges do not. This is both for the dash guages & the triple displays. So if you can picture this, the speedometer lights up just fine, but the hand that tells you what speed you are going doesn't. And the only way I could see the hand was when I passed under a street light. Other than that it was guess your speed & revs ect.

Any ideas? Could it be a fuse?

FairladyZ 03-10-2013 05:49 AM

Could be a fuse, but why bother figuring it out.

You have warranty so use it.

It's all covered just go to sleep and worry less, have the dealer fix that ****

MadMan 03-10-2013 06:01 AM

If it is as simple as a fuse, I don't want the down time a dealership would mean.
Just got my nose out of the Users Manual. It's dark here now, but when it turns light, will check on something called a battery extender. The dealership was supposed to remove it, but.....

FairladyZ 03-10-2013 06:15 AM

You can check in the compartment next to your left foot. There is usually a fuse blocker or thing they are suppose to remove on delivery. If its still there you are suppose to push it completely in I believe or use a new fuse in its place.

MadMan 03-10-2013 07:06 AM

It was the "fuse blocker". Pushed it in & all systems work fine.
Thanks for the help.
Now I will get back to loving my New Z.

mhcoss 03-10-2013 07:14 AM

be glad its just a fuse m8. My new Z car has a blown head gasket :ugh2:

FairladyZ 03-10-2013 07:51 AM

Np I knew it was that

DEpointfive0,

The photo of:

or
b) the battery extender/fuse blocker
????

DEpointfive0 03-10-2013 06:26 PM

The fuse blocker!
I know what a Z looks like, I have one in the garage! Lol

Look here for the info and pics of the Extended Storage Switch, which I believe is the same thing as the fuse blocker in this thread.

That would make sense! Rep added! :tiphat:

Thanks, glad I could help!

Nissan added this storage switch almost 3 years ago in 2011 and the dealers still can't seem to remember to push it in...

Yep. They didn't pull mine either. Then when I complained about nothing holding the settings, the service manager told me that was 'normal'.

Now don't forget to remove the front springs shipping blocks. If the dealer forgot to push in the "fuse blocker", I'm sure they did not removed the shipping blocks. If you turn the steering wheel to one side completly or remove the front wheels and look at the springs, you will see 2 or 3 pieces of plastic wedged in the front springs. I know the nismo comes with them installed. That prevents the suspension from being completely compressed during shipment of the vehicle. I was driving around with them for a month before a friend told me about it. Once I removed them, it lowers the vehicle a bit in the front and the suspension feels better.

Saw Rush twice at the Shoreline Amphitheater and once at the Oakland Coliseum arena back in the day! Slappin' da base man!

No, Spring Blocks & all is good.
Had the Z for about a week & a half now.
My biggest dilemma:
a) not wanting to rack-up the miles too soon
b) wanting to get to the break-in point & hang it's arse out good & proper

VDC off and give yourself a lot of room the first couple of times. The Z can do some funny stuff with zero mods. Nismo's probably better than the Sport though.
