:rolleyes:

It's the transmission type..

6MT = 6 Gear Manual Transmission

7AT = 7 Gear Automatic Transmission

Awwww. Give him/her a break. It was the nomenclature that confused the OP, not the difference between auto and manual (at least that's how I read it). The argot of this (and most other car-related) site can be confusing for even old car buffs. And I can see how searching for a three-letter term could be a nightmare.

Now you know what they mean so there will be no excuse when you pick a 7AT :stirthepot:

It's very helpful for seeing whats available versus what you want. Doing my homework beforehand ....I knew more than the salesman when i bought mine...and i am female. :tup:

I'm kinda surprised that women will buy cars. I've gone car shopping with female friends and, with few exceptions, the salesperson would spend most of their time talking at me. Even after explaining that she was buying the car, it was almost like she wasn't there. When they did talk to my friends, it was that let-me-explain-this-to-you-little-lady crap.

I try to be a Southern Gentleman and open doors for women, say "ma'am," and all that, but, good gawd, they're not stupid (at least no more so than us men). It can be very entertaining to watch a real woman explain that to the salesperson before walking out. :)

LOL, you guys are rough. Nothing like the E90 forum though.

LOL, I agree, like M6 370Z, that's a new model... Hmmmmm...

And this thread should be closed now since the OP's question has been answered.

But OP, 7AT FTW, go test rape both, you'll see... :stirthepot:

OP, since you are from Boston. Should come to the G/Z meet in Quincy when the weather gets warmer.
