Yup. The Z is my first Nissan and the amount of problems (rattle noises, clutch valve leak, steering lock, TPMS, squeak here and there, etc.) it has for a new car is intolerable and unacceptable. I'm really disappointed at Nissan. I used to own a Celica and it has literally zero issues for 10 years. This makes me really sad since I really like the Z...

No matter how hard I drive my sports car, it shouldn't have a laundry list of problems at 30k miles

Hey DE....Sounds like you're having Seinfeld withdrawal symptoms. What happened, did your cable go out? That's how I felt when our cable went out and I couldn't get my daily Seinfeld fix! I feel your pain bro!

Bking 03-08-2013 03:08 PM

Getting back on the topic.

I only let me close friends "test drive" my car, and of course I will be in the passenger seat.

UNKNOWN_370 03-08-2013 04:05 PM

My wife gets it once or twice a month. That's it!!!!

axmea? 03-08-2013 04:08 PM

I'm confused here. How did this thread turn into Nissan bashing again? Too lazy to go back pages on this tiny blackberry screen (ik ik).

Nailzs 03-08-2013 04:22 PM

Do I let other people drive my car?

NO! HELL NO!!

The Z too? :eek2:

JARblue 03-08-2013 06:20 PM

My wife drove the Z as her DD for over a year... she can drive it whenever she wants

That being said, anyone else driving my car, is known to me, is a quality MT driver, likely drives a much more expensive car than the Z (and let's me drive it), is fully insured, and understands driver takes full responsibility

tWeEzY 03-08-2013 06:50 PM

I hate letting others drive my cars. Personally I think its more because its a manual and ive known lots of people that either ride the clutch or have bad shifting habits. I wouldnt care as much if it was an auto. Until a year ago, the only people that had driven my car were the service techs. Buddy of mine didnt have a car and asked to run an errand. I had no choice cuz i was caught off guard and couldnt think of an excuse to say no.

I did let one chic drive my old Z once but she owned a stick so i knew she was good. She could shift into 2nd way smoother than i ever could. I followed in her car. It was hot seeing my car rolling but dangerous cuz i was so distracted i almost ran into her. Im more concerned with anyone driving the 370 more due to all the blind spots. I dont need them wrecking or curbing a tire cuz they couldnt see. Id ask y they want to drive it and if they dont get the hint then I'd tell them I dont have insurance presently lol. Its one thing to be in the car but scary what a friend could do if you just throw them the keys and tell them to have at it. I dont beat on my car and wouldnt want anyone else to abuse her.

CDepp 03-08-2013 08:03 PM

Sure will. But as tWeEzY said; I'll prolly want to be certain they can drive a standard properly. :ugh2:

/just a car

//a f*ck!ng amazing car, but a car nonetheless

EndyKwon 03-09-2013 01:00 AM

There's always that one friend who HAS to do the whole pedal to the medal thing just because its a sports car. Then, he HAS to stay in 3rd gear going nearly 4000 RPM instead of cruising and I just have the urge to shift up on the tip-tronic thingy-majig so it won't burn up my engine.

L33T Z34 03-09-2013 05:28 AM

I let my friends/co-workers drive it to Xperience the l33tness.
:icon18:
Fawk it, why not:confused:

And not having them on your insurance policy.:shakes head:

rebe945 03-09-2013 06:36 AM

Dont like it

When others have to drive my car. Such as yesterday when I took my car for an emmissions test here in Ohio. Great place, top techs but still a smudge inside and some surface scratches at the rear hatch area. Obvious someone leaned on it or had to rub on it. I of course washed it ,removed the scrathes, polished and waxed the area of concern. Just more work. I did let my lifetime buddy drive it when I moved last fall. Hes a original Datsun guy from long ago. I trust him along with my buddy who has a 2001 Corvette with 8k miles. Anyone who has a good car i feel no problem with. It just the strangers.:icon14:

They don't need to be on your insurance policy (unless you have crappy policy maybe?). If I let someone drive my car and they wreck it, my insurance goes after their insurance. They pay the deductible, and the claim goes on their insurance. Unfortunately, it's happened to me before. Nationwide (my insurance) took care of everything and gave me zero hassles.

Dlm6568 03-09-2013 08:28 AM

First day at work with the Z, my buddy ask to drive it. again caught me off guard so i say yea. but just around the complex. he and get in as hes reversing out of the spothe overcuts the wheel and proceeds to run the passenger side bfront wheel up the curb.

Inside i freaking out, but i say it should be ok. test drive goes without any other issues. we park and i go inspect the wheel. Thank God no damage. it was a really low curb maybe 3 inches.

Go back to work, come back from lunch, and go see my friend. I tell him i inspected the wheel again and there was some damage. Tell him it about an 1 inch long didn't notice cause of the position. He freaks "OMG dude what can I do, can we replace it? Let me know i pay all the cost. So I let him stew the rest of the day, tell him I will see what my options are and cost. Stop by his desk at the end of the day and tell I was only kidding, the wheel is fine. The look on his face was priceless!!
since then no has driven the Z. Lesson learned!!!

Magic Bus 03-09-2013 03:27 PM

Like you, I let 2 of my co-workers drive my car. But I drove the car out of the parking lot to an area a couple miles away where there is very little traffic.

They both drive sticks as their daily drivers so I had no issues with them driving my car for approx 5-10 minutes each. The happiness on their faces after the drive, well worth it.

3SeventyZ 03-10-2013 05:12 AM

Sometimes. I'm usually sitting in the passenger seat tho..

Stolly08 03-10-2013 07:20 AM

There are only a few people I let drive my car and the list is locked down now! I just went thru a bunch of BS after I got rear ended to use the insurance money to put towards a body kit instead of factory parts and I get the car back and 2 weeks later I let a “friend" drive her and he did fine till we pulled into the parking spot and the dumba*% hits the curb with the brand new front bumper! 750$ J-Spec 2.... if you know what that looks like the whole front lip cracked nasty but he bondo'd it up nicely but still

Only certain people drive her now!

Sometimes I will . . . .

SouthArk370Z 03-10-2013 08:59 AM

heehee Most of the ppl that I know and would let drive any vehicle of mine don't want to drive the 370Z. My Dad is 6'+ and has problems with his feet and legs so getting in/out is a PITA for him. My best friend is afraid he'll wreck it (kind of surprised me since he has owned RX-7s, Vettes, &c).
My daughter has driven it a few times with me in the passenger seat. Not because I felt I needed to be there; I wasn't going to walk home just so she could solo.

It's just a car and it's insured, so I wouldn't be too worried to let someone I consider to be a good driver take it for a spin.

I'm more concerned about ppl driving my POS pickup truck with the worn out steering and iffy brakes. :)

Daishi9000 03-13-2013 09:46 PM

OK, i was all in love with my car last week. now it's making some weird noise. probably my engine or flywheel..

now i hate my car...lets see what the dealership has to say about that...:shakes head:

OldGuy 03-13-2013 09:55 PM

No. Years ago, the Mazda tech/car jockey wrecked my beatiful Miata during a service visit. They fully repaired it, of course, but since then no one ever drives my Miata or my Z.

Dwight Frye 03-14-2013 05:20 PM

Hell no. After getting the estimate the other day from a (multiple branch locations) Nissan dealer close to my work to repair the rear bumper damage that occurred when I was rear ended, I was told that their dealership that actually had the body shop was 30 miles away. They said I could get a rental car from the local dealer and they would ferry my car up to the body shop and back down when done. No way I told them. I'll drop it off at the body shop myself and they can arrange for a rental car to be available to me up there.
I trust no one.

diddy535 03-14-2013 05:41 PM

Not usually. GF can't drive a stick so that rules her out. A friend drove it when he came to visit and it was so weird sitting in the passenger seat.

it looks like that was a rear end collision, and other than a few circumstances, the driver can't really control that type of thing happening. If it was a friend, I wouldn't blame them too much (unless it was one of those few instances where the driver was being a complete idiot). I don't blame you, though, if you never let anyone else drive one of your cars again :tiphat:

Wow -- that does not look good. Are you OK? What happened?

stubie1918 03-14-2013 07:05 PM

It actually wasn't her fault. Some A$$hole was texting and driving. We were stopped for like 5 seconds and this guy in a Audi Allroad nailed us going 45mph. I got a concussion but she was fine. He hit us so hard it pushed us into the car in front of us.

Drodriguez06 03-14-2013 07:13 PM

man that sucks, thankfully yall were not seriously injured and sorry about the Z

I got hit by someone texting and driving, no injuries, people should really pay more attention while driving I almost get into 5 wrecks a day with stupid people not

Man, I'm truly sorry for you. That's the worst $hit... when someone is just completely irresponsible while operating a vehicle :shakes head: exactly the reason I ignore my phone completely while I am driving.

I hope you are both ok

stubie1918 03-14-2013 07:22 PM

Thank you I really appreciate that!

stubie1918 03-14-2013 07:31 PM

So I downgraded and got me a G35 its slower than the 370z but it still has a 350z heart :) and I wanted something a little bigger.

Vichtz 03-14-2013 07:37 PM

dude glad you're ok. G35 is a good car :)
Back on topic,
would you let someone else drive your car?
I don't know, would you let someone else **** your wife?
