Anyone have a rattle sound come from trunk?

I found there are some rattle sound comes from back trunk these days, it sounds like plastic-plastic rattling. It comes both from driver side and passenger side, and it becomes very loud when its raining or wet environment. Anyone know how to fix it?

Check for any loose things around the Spare tire area. Perhaps Take everything out and go for a quick ride to verify if the rattle is still coming.

Check the passenger seat belt buckle... Remember, this large hatchback area is like being inside a drum.

Yes, I found where the noise is coming from. Last week I was driving from Charlotte to Savannah and the noise was driving me crazy. It was non stop and louder than my factory stereo. I got home checked the trunk and when I pulled the trunk mats....... there were three squirrels having sex and tossing acorns all over the trunk.
Now seriously, maybe (and I had to do it) adjust the trunk latch. The u-bolt inside the trunk. I had to repositioned by loosing the two bolts and pushing down on it as far as it would let me. Now the hatch closes more "solid" and there is no more rattle. Careful pulling the plastic liner, as not to tear the clips apart.

Which is the U bolt? I'm trying to locate a few rattles too. One of them which happens when I accelerate is like a thin metal plate vibrating/buzzing behind me. I just parked the car and had a quick look inside the trunk. I noticed the vertical panel at the back of the trunk (held on my weird looking round black clips) creates that thin metal rattle inside when I pushed it. Has anyone looked what's inside? I couldn't work out how to remove the round black clips.

.

Rodent three-way...very progressive!

OP, be careful if you are planning to pull up the panel you suspect is making the noise. Those are weird clips back there and the panels are easy to crack. There are good directions in the DIY section on how to do this.

I did this as well, solved my 'rattle-when-hitting-a-bump-clunk-noise'.

And, as always, check for squirrels.

The U-bolt is the one attached to the rear of the vehicle. The latch is on the hatch, the bolt is on the rear (on the same panel where the trunk light is located). You must remove the plastic liner in order to adjust the bolt by sliding it down as far as you can. Before the adjustment, the hatch could still be pushed down even when shut. After the adjustment, it closes perfectly.

I can't hear rattles over the sound of my exhaust!

behind this verticle panel is a bunch of wires tied together. These wires can tap against the rear part of the car metal panel and cause a noise. I placed some cloth in between the wires and body frame.

Just an FYI for those chasing rear trunk rattles. The sons of bitch styro foams make a racket back there. Especially when everything else around it except the hard plastic trim is removed.
