The New Z?

I saw in Motor Trend that the Nissan CEO indicated that their is a new Z in the works. I am not one to start rumors, but coming from the CEO of Nissan, their may be some validity in his words.

If so, I would like to indicate amoung the current Z community their wish list items for a new upcoming Z.

To start, I would offer the following:
  • Shorter wheel base and overall length (i.e less than 100" wheel base length, approx. 158-160" overall length)
  • Lighter overall weight (i.e. reduced by 200-300 lbs overall)
  • Smoother/faster shifts for the manual transmission with more forward gears (7-8 spd)
  • Less NVH (Noise, Vibration,Harshness)
[*Improved engine operational issues that are the nemisis of tracking the current Z
  • Improved limited slip differential able to take track laps at race courses
  • More leg room for 6'-4" plus tall persons
  • Improved seats that are lighter and fit tall people
  • Shorter hatch length that weighs less
  • Turbo option
  • A track option that deletes air con/sound system option

Sounds great but I'll believe it when I see it.

The Upcoming New Z

The Nissan CEO was vage on when a new Z would be available.

37 Z, I believe all your suggestions would make an admirable track car, and should be offered as a package. And I DO agree with you.

However, speaking from experience, as a former owner of a Club Sport Pontiac Solstice, (special order, track oriented, with nearly all of the items/deletes you listed) I don't think Nissan will be interested. The volume would be too small.

Would you forward our wish list to Nissan CEO? If so, I wanna a turbo charged V6!!

Waiz 02-06-2013 07:15 PM

Lighter weight and lower price would be nice

37Z 02-06-2013 07:19 PM

Lighter weight and more economical price usually is not achievable IMHO.

LMBmikeZ 02-06-2013 07:20 PM

one of these threads again :wtf2:

brucelidat 02-06-2013 07:22 PM

Yep, another one...

but I'll still chime in, don't care how it's done, but lighter, more power, better mileage, and not any less sexy looking.

We can all wish I guess... :ugh2:

Anyhow, that'd be nice but I'm not greedy. I'll take a turbocharged option with 450ish HP, LSD as you mentioned, and lighter. :driving:

Not even close, but have been involved with Nissan cars over the years having owned 7 of their cars. I have had the privilege to submit some design ideas to Nissan in the pass that were incorporated in one of their previous models.
