I had the 8500, and went with a V1. Won't look back.
My V1 is quiet most of the time. I use it in L mode, and A in the highway. The Escort maybe a good radar, but I rather have my radar go off more than NOT go off or wait till the last second to go off like the Escort does. V1 also tells you which direction the cop is, front, sides, rear. So then you know where to look, or if you should slow down or not. |
I started researching this... I am curious why no one is mentioning the RX75??? Doesn't the ability to mount the radar and laser receivers wherever you want greatly increase the effectiveness of the entire system???

Valentine one for the win!! pick up FHP ( florida highway ) from like 3 miles away.

I just bought my first radar detector with my car (got the car 3 days ago). I ended up getting the 9500 IX. The stationary photo radar warnings are very nice, there are a ton in Tempe, Arizona!

Okay I correct myself Passport just came out with a new detector that is linked up somehow that it can plot where hotspots, cams, and cops are in real time i dont know really but thats what i heard

so i have been running my 9500ix for about a month now. I love it!!! Catching always on radars without a problem. GPS warnings are awesome. I love the MPH display while driving. The pop radar and laser detection is awesome as well. i have at least 1 confirmed laser save and NUMEROUS always on radar saves.

I had an older Escort Passport model (8500), which was amazing. When I saw the 9500ix, I did their swap for an $80 credit towards the new radar. The 9500ix is fantastic. Gives great forewarning on upcoming traps and the GPS features make it an absolute winner. The savings in red light camera alerts alone can pay for this thing in the city. It's ability to learn falses using the GPS is also a key selling point. V1 may have a slight advantage on range, but alerting at 2.5mi vs 3mi makes no difference unless you're doing 256mph in a Veyron. The GPS perks make this the clear winner for me. |

I have the 9500ix and V1, I personally like the 9500ix better because it is very quiet, it has very few if any false alarms. If I hear it, chances are it's a real threat. I've actually used them side-by-side and the V1 just kept going off in business areas with X-band (bank vaults, door openers, and microwaves) while the 9500ix remained quiet. The 9500ix actually picked up a Maryland state Trooper from behind the vehicle before the V1 went off.

Also, police officers have been using a method for years now, where they're "clocking" you from the oncoming traffic, say, on the expressway, but they're too close for your Detector to pick their signal up in time...You're fried anyway. As technology advances, it's harder to avoid Big Brother!
