fla trip

norfolk va to orlanda fla
miles 1700
top speed 65-70 mph(no sprited runs, no tickets either)
oil temp 180-245
outside temp 45(va)80(fl)
oil consumed 1/2 qt replaced when i got to orlanda, none when i returned to norfolk(looked a little brown and thicker then when i started out with a new oil change
350z spotted 5+
370z spotted 1
outside air circulation does not work well or am i doing something wrong?(i just want fresh outside air not a/c and fresh air)
I heard that during break in peroid one should not baby your z so that the car's engine can seal better.
the point to this....there is none

No spirited runs and still burnt 1/2 quart? Wow!

Oops didn't finish reading about breaking in

Mpg average?

RonRizz 01-18-2013 07:23 PM

I did this in March, from Harrisburg, pa to daytona beach for Spring Break Nationals, 1900 miles. 75-80 mph
car had 7000 miles or so on it. MPG was staying at around 19 prior. after trip, average was 21. Not much of an improvement

Trip from Des Moines to Savannah in September 2012, 2954 miles averaged 27.2 mpg. No oil used, the car had about 17K miles on it at the time. Never has used any oil. I've noticed that after the engine was broken in that the oil temps have come down significantly even during hot weather.

You do not have an oil consumption problem with 1700 miles and 1/2 quart, that is the good news.

How you fellows get such high mileage is impressive, or sad depending how you look at it. :icon17:

Altitude maybe?

cossie1600 01-19-2013 11:05 PM

You can clear 25+mpg easily if you just put the cruise on at 75mph
