All in good fun :) Be safe about what you do, preferably, in an enclosed area... off of public roads.

:icon17: It's only hot when it's 110 plus.

And, rock lawns are awesome, because I care about the environment (I don't waste water!).

Pull the fuse, a 25mins simple work that can save you $1,000 plus 2 - 3 weeks of waiting time.

I already got the steering lock failure, warranty was expired and it cost me $1100 to fix it. Ill be safe for another year, ill be sure to pull the fuse before the year ends and maybe maybe before that Nissan recalls the part.

Where did one year come from? Do it now.

Well the reason I'm waiting is because if they do recall the part and I have to go to the dealer what I'm I going to say when they see the fuse missing or the wired cut?? The warranty for the replaced part is for a year, so I want to leave it there in case the lock fails again, then after the year I can pull it.

Also the replace steering lock is the D version, I believe that's the one that should have no problems.

Also I'm scare

lemon-fresh 01-17-2013 06:06 PM

Tell them you pulled the fuse because the steering like is a POS. I think it was removed from the later models entirely. Don't see why they would have any problem with it, also the fuse is not exactly easily accessible.

If they do have a problem, find another dealer.

The ONLY potential issue I see is with the insurance company if the car gets stolen.

kenchan 01-17-2013 06:09 PM

per Fritz's diy: push start button once to ACC. locate steering lock and cut brown wire.

done

Nooooooooooo! Lol maybe, maybe not. I don't see why it's a big deal I want to wait until the warranty for the steering lock expires.

not fixed at all. brown wire cut is by fritz and it's easier to do than pulling the steering lock fuse.

Ouch, you had to go there.

Haha I don't wanna :eekdance:

DIGItonium 01-17-2013 06:48 PM

The power is fine, and it sounds so good with a good exhaust. I just hate the feeling of power fading as things heat up.

With the recent fix (new brake switch) I'm not complaining about low end power anymore even when I'm not even boosting. I can finally get the car moving at will without the lag under 2k.

I haven't complained about it lately. This thread wasn't even about that, you guys brought it up. This was supposed to be a good thread, not a steering lock thread.

dude... once you pulled the fuse, the fuse won't lock thus the problem is fixed for good...

And I sure the lock won't go defective within 12 month but the 13th...

And you have to wait for another 2-3 weeks for the parts and pay another $1000 and rant in here... :ugh2:

Wait for a recall...?? It's been a problem since 2009 and there's no recall plus Nissan stop using the Lock from mid-2011 therefore the chance of having a recall is -100%

not being rude but if your Steering Lock goes fail again don't post anything in here to complain cos you've been told a solution but you chose to ignore it... :icon18::icon18:

Can I still complain to Nissan?

Right now I'm enjoying my Z, which is why I created this thread idk why it turn into a "R0bDC pull the fuse" thread

SS_Firehawk 01-17-2013 07:45 PM

Just enjoy the car, that's why we all bought it, definitely not for it's practicality.

I hope so, sometimes I wish the car had like 10 gears. Something about shifting over and over and knowing your going faster and faster I just love.

Are you stock? With a couple more mods, that feeling will enhance 10 fold, instead of 10 gears. :icon17:
