I do wish there was idiot proofing for the slip-into-neutral goof though. I've done that a couple times on both cars and my instinct reaction is to put it back into drive. This sucks because the revs are usually still around 5 k when that happens and I get reminded of my mistake by the subsequent jerk. Can't be good for the trans.

Yeah, I never understood that... Because you can't go into park or reverse at a certain speed...
And my 2009 Maxima would dumb down the RPMs THEN engage...
(Then again, the CVT is way more sensitive and worse for higher power motors)

the 7AT is a awesome set-up i'm sure you'll love it more and more as you drive

VRROOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM  fuuuuu!! screech, shift, pull away ducking head down..

:bowrofl: :roflpuke2:

Omg I hate that! when you are in Drive for whatever reason ( 99% use manual mode) and then you "shift up" into neutral and hit the rpms all way to 7k and you react quick and are like wtfff put it back in gear and bolt off hahah

o,o LOL I have to try this out now.

Another thing that I have found that works well on the 7 SP AT is shifting from full auto to manual if you are cruising around town at 40 to 50 MPH. In the full auto mode, the AT will lope the motor down to below 2k RPM at 50 MPH. (Probably for fuel econ) If you slap the shift into manual mode at 50 MPH the trans will select 5th gear and lift the rpm by about 500 rpm to 2.2k to 2.5k RPM and hold the gear. It moves to motor up on the torque curve and removes the "slush from the box"

thought this AT has lockup on each gear other than 1st?

anyway, good to hear the car bounces off the rev limiter. i would be EXTREMELY PISSED if the car shifted up on its own.

That's awesome, I know exactly what you mean, I had a 350 before as well. Haven't made the mistake with the 370, but it's good to know it doesn't bang against the limiter over and over.

LMAO!

My exhaust it deafening at times, like shifting into first at 30MPH, lol

I get a SLEW of ásshole drivers, and I'm not going to lie, ásshole drivers get ásshole things done to them

(Look up my thread on running a red light) or last night 2 guys didn't stop as I was going 50 and I barely missed hitting them and the curb, so I hit the horn, still going 50, got in front and checked to see how my brakes were functioning...

Lockup?

And the fact it sits at/on the limiter instead of shifting/lets you shift into any gear no matter how high the RPMs are, makes me VERY happy

Stupid ISF I have will stay IN a gear buy locks out gears when you downshift
(1st takes you to like 42, but you have to go less than 20 to go back into 1st... You can floor it and it WILL go into 1st itself, but you have no control)

If you hit the limiter on the MT6 , something cuts out and saves the engine from the driver.

So no 4=>1 misshifts of death?

I'd guess a fuel cutoff first.

Nope, that's still bad. No fuel cut or rev limiter can save you if you mechanically over rev it.

But the syncro rev match will scream at you if you have it on, and hopefully you won't release the clutch. Even if SRM isn't on it still shows you which gear you are in, so if in doubt, look at the display before you release the clutch.
