The couple days before your Z

What did you do?

Me: I'm sitting here biting fingernails, annoying my fiance, drooling over the car galleries here, trying to nap time away, etc. Anything to make time pass faster. It's only two days away, but DAMN that's like a child waiting in anticipation for Christmas morning to open presents he's been scoping in the parent's closet for weeks!

I need advice. Let me know I'm not the only person who was on the edge of insanity a day or two before owning their first Z. How did you deal with it?

Best advice gets rep points.

:tiphat:

I couldn't wait either...You should camp out at the dealership :)

Hahaha! I would, but I'm buying from forum member here and he lives 500+ miles away. (Yes, his/soon-to-be-my Z is worth that distance):icon17:

Dsevast 12-15-2012 08:00 AM

You could try to think about something else?? lol... I had to drive 600 miles to get mine from the dealer. They were the only ones that had the Z that I wanted with the options. Probably the longest drive ever, but the drive home was awesome!!

USMCASA 12-15-2012 08:03 AM

went to trade in my charger at the dealer on a whim, was pre approved from my credit union on the loan but didn't have the check. dealer gave me an awesome deal and told me i could take the Z home that night even with no check from the credit union. i waited till the next day to pick her up. i was worthless at work because i was looking at all the pics and reviews about it. i even knew exactly how it would sound from watching all the google vids on it and the top gear review of it where they raced it against a bmw z4 in the rain

OldGuy 12-15-2012 08:09 AM

Engage in the only thing that's more exciting than Z driving (maybe)---you know what I mean :)

Congrats OP! And you already did what's the best to deal with the situation - come onto this forum and share the anxiety and excitement with us.:)

Also yes you are not the only one here. What I did was got onto playstation using 370z make one lap after another so that I was not only looking at my future car but also "driving/racing" it in advance. Time passed pretty fast this way.

Or you can start your mod list now.;)

Thanks. My mod list is well under way with budgeting and timetables for each install. Clear bra and tint already scheduled for later this coming week. January getting with 180Custom for headlamps. February exhaust (Invidia rolled titanium cat-back) and intake (Stillen G3). March springs and spacers. April Rims. May install for suspension and if budget allows extra - sway bars. The list is long.:excited:

i know EXACTLY how you feel (only very slightly worse). I pick up my new 2013 on the 20th. Yesterday I saw it for the first time at the dealers and took a few shots. Hope you enjoy yours!

:hello:

Ahem... (shameless attempt to get a rep point) :happydance:

If you haven't got one, go and buy a PS3 (only a fraction of what your new car is costing you so just explain to the fiance it's part of the overall cost of 370Z ownership), buy GranTurismo 5, then earn some points and buy the Nissan Fairlady (Japan's 370Z of course) and kill time by racing it round tracks all over the world - much better way to kill time while waiting than napping! Also, you can mod it with intakes, exhaust etc. :)

(If you have an XBOX you could get Forza but I have that too and GT5 is better)

:hello:

enkei2k 12-15-2012 09:52 AM

I totally forgot about it until I called them on the Friday of the week it was expected to arrive. Turns out it was sitting on the lot since Tuesday or Wednesday. Good thing it was good weather that entire week.

I promptly picked it up that Saturday lol.

CDepp 12-16-2012 07:30 AM

4 hours until I pick up the rental to drive to DC.
26.37 hours until I drive the new Z.

OldGuy 12-16-2012 07:54 AM

Just a reminder about getting a car far from home. Examine the car thoroughly in all respects before you accept delivery. Mine looked perfect the night I got it but when I hand washed it the next day, I discovered a hard-to-see ding. I was already back in PA from DC where I, also, had bought mine. My very good local Nissan dealer correctly determined it was located in a place that would be very difficult to repair. I'd have to tear a brand new car apart, etc. to get to it . To this day, I still have trouble finding it. But it's there. Be thorough and take your time. Had I seen it, I would have demanded and would have received another identical unit in inventory.

CDepp 12-16-2012 02:53 PM

17hrs

RoshDawg 12-16-2012 03:30 PM

Oh man you're gonna be stoked when you get in it for the first time! You should request them to not detail the interior and leave all the plastics on. Idk why but I love removing those things for the first time.

All the finance managers are tricky b*stards!

I hate dealing with finance. That is why 99% of the time I get a pre-approved loan and go with a check ready to go.

nmjaxx9 12-16-2012 05:19 PM

The wait is always nail biting :icon17: But oh so worth it. Congrats on the purchase. :)

CDepp 12-16-2012 09:42 PM

Thanks all. I'm at 12 hours and counting...

Mike 12-17-2012 08:10 AM

I bought springs, sways and a set of wheels while the car was two weeks out after I bought it. The day before I got it, I powdercoated the wheels. Then on delivery, I drove it home, put it on jack stands and swapped everything out and powdercoated the calipers too.

Haboob 12-17-2012 08:32 AM

I don't even remember the days before to be honest, lol. I was so excited.

SkiDoggAC 12-17-2012 10:25 AM

I called the dealer every other day for 3 weeks when I was waiting for mine to show up. To be fair it took 4 months to get here... :shakes head:

CDepp 12-17-2012 10:50 AM

Picking up now. The owner is having detailed for when I first see it. Exciting times, indeed!!

forza370z 12-17-2012 10:51 AM

Yay! Take lots of pix!

VDC_OFF 12-17-2012 11:01 AM

After a late Saturday afternoon test drive and sleeping on it before making a decision to make the purchase, I had to wait a whole week to pick up the car.
Saturday: Test drive a Sport Package Z at a dealer about 45 minutes from home. Find out they have a pre-owned 2009 Sport/Touring/NAV with only 3,500 miles on it, that just happened to be Pearl White with Persimmon... the package and colour combo I was willing to order if I had to! I had not researched what a pre-owned Z should go for, so I go home to do a little number crunching and sleep on it.
Sunday: Car dealerships (or at least their finance and title offices) are closed in PA. I decide to sell my Mazdaspeed3 privately rather than trade it on the Z, so I fill out an online loan application with my credit union.
Monday: Get my loan approval in the morning. Call the dealership to make an offer, which they accept. Tried to get them to deliver the car without success, so had to arrange pickup which would have to be Saturday due to my work schedule.
Hung up the phone and proceeded to annoy my co-workers with my happy dance.
Monday Night: Create a profile here.
Tuesday: Call my tint guy and set up an appointment for the Monday after i pick up the car.
Wednesday: Start seriously considering a Fast Intentions exhaust.
Thursday: Research the different configurations for rear fog lights.
Friday: Watch every possible video of Z test drives and comparos.
Saturday: Do some really bad haircuts on people... distracted much? Pick up the car and drive it well into the night.
The thrill still hasn't worn off!

well the day before i got my 370z, my mother was talking about helping me get a 370z for my first car i purchase on my own(i was gonna get a 240z in excellent condition with no rust with an LS1 turbo swap and full supporting mods, coil overs, and a roll cage for 11k)

i look up the car, saw it looked nice, looked at track performance and compared it to an evo, porsches, ect.

then the next day my mother took me to the local nissan dealer ship to check out the 370z they had on the lot, they had a certified preowned nismo 370z asking 35k and fully loaded(well for a nismo, it had a spare, illuminated door kickers, illuminated z emblem, and trunk cover and floor mats), i test drove it(still learning manual as well but i managed) and loved it, my mother wasnt sold on the car though so she test drove it and loved it so she talked the sales guy down to 35k otd with lowjack installed and we had a deal

to this day i dont have any regrets on purchasing this car, its fast, balanced, and fun to drive

my mom did help me on the condition that i give my car to my little brother but i am not complaining

Congrats, Welcome to the club

if you know any back roads, driver her on that, imo its the windy roads that really bring the car to life and it will put the biggest smile on your face
