ZDayZ 2009

Hello Everyone! I am new to this forum but not new to the Z community. Don't have a Z34 yet but can't wait for the Roadster release. It's looking like that will be my wife's next ride. Of course, I am already picking out parts.

Thought I would share a link to the pics my wife and I took this year at ZDayZ at Fontana Village the surrounding twisties. If you like to drive, this event is for you. We spent most of our weekend in the car and participated in the following events: Friday morning "Drop top Cruise", Poker Run, TSD Ralley, and took a twilight drive up to the top of the Cherohala Skyway after the awards ceremony and dinner. This was one of the best organized car events that I have participated in.

Great pictures. I can't wait for Zdayz 2010.

BeachZTT 07-06-2009 02:34 PM

Thanks! We will be there...

We reserved our cabin for next year when we checked out. We had a blast.

cow 07-06-2009 02:51 PM

Same. We were in 510 last year, but we reserved 459 next year to be in the middle of everything.

BeachZTT 07-06-2009 03:00 PM

This was our first year and we didn't get reservations until Feb. so we weren't in a cabin. I don't remeber which one we got but it is on the side street one cabin away from the main drag across from the ballfield entrance.

cow 07-06-2009 03:06 PM

Were you in the red 300ZX?

Us too! We have the 2 cabins right at the big fire pit, I think 617 and 621.

I was in a Corvette for the 09 event, will be in the 370 for 10.

BeachZTT 07-07-2009 07:02 AM

Yep...

COW, That was me in the stock looking red TT with chromed stock rims. Well, one of them anyway. There was another 300 that looked almost identical to mine.

Mike,
My wife won two "ThePowdercoater.com" prizes. One was the Z31 Plenum Cover and the other was a gift certificate for coating a set of calipers. I was kinda funny, I gave her some cash and told her if she won the Alcoa rims that I would buy her a roadster "to go on them". She put all of her tickets in the the wrong pot and won the plenum cover. I am still trying to get a hold of whoever has it because we didnt' pick it up at dinner and no one showed up for "Meet the Organizers" Sunday before we had to get on the road.

I'm 99.9% sure you were in the cabin next to mine. We had two black Z's, a Silverstone one, & a black STI.

I didn't know many people & didn't go out of my way to meet too many this year. Whoops.

xiven 07-07-2009 09:30 AM

how far in advance did you have to make reservations?

I didn't make the reservation, but I believe it was made in early June 08. When checkng out this year, we reserved for 2010. From what I hear, it's a good idea to reserve very early in advance.

BeachZTT 07-07-2009 12:17 PM

I agree.

If you want a cabin, book as early as possible. This year there were only 4 Lodge/Garden rooms left for the weekend when we booked in Feb.

Bummer, can't see photobucket from here but will take a look from home.

Must have been the other guy. We were in a room below the restaraunt this year.

I spent so much time driving that we didn't meet a lot of people either but the people we did meet were awesome.

cow 07-07-2009 01:13 PM

Yeah, must've been the other guy. He had a "STAFF" t-shirt.

I was so bummed to leave. I can't wait for next year.

xiven 07-07-2009 01:29 PM

looks like its about a 3 hour drive for me. may just have to day trip it if i can't get a place to stay.

cow 07-07-2009 01:31 PM

Check this link for places to stay in the area. The event is staged from Fontana Village, but one isn't REQUIRED to stay there, it's just the most convenient place.

You shouldn't have any problem finding a place for next year this early. I would definately make a weekend of it though!

Hopefully, the Topoco Lodge will be back in business for next year as well. I told my wife when we win the lottery tonight, we will buy it. Anyone have 4 million I can borrow? I will open it up to Zers for the week. :driving:

cow 07-07-2009 02:49 PM

Yeah, at least make a weekend of it. The event itself was a blast, but honestly, I think I had more fun Wednesday & Thursday before the event itself kicked off. I really like that the organizers let you do what you want.

I will probably be there all week next year.

CrownR426 07-07-2009 02:56 PM

Get ready for next year Cow!

I've been ready for next year since I left this year.

Yessir. Crown & I will be playing.

xiven 07-07-2009 03:34 PM

I'm definitely in then. Its been awhile since I've played against people better than me. I've been playing every other week if not more but its no competition. It gets boring after awhile.

cow 07-07-2009 04:01 PM

Oh crap. Pressure.

Sorry about that. I too was going for the Alcoa rims, even though I didn't even have a 370 at that time, and didn't even know I was going to wind up buying one either (although, I bought the car the day after we got home on 6/1!).

I know they emailed me and said that someone had walked off with the cover. They wanted me to replace it with a Z32 intake manifold that I was going to give away earlier, but unfortunately, I had discovered that manifold was cracked. If you get the sport brakes, I could do those calipers for you. 300ZX calipers look pretty sweet in powdercoat also.

We have already found plenty of other excuses to get a 370. :) Plan is to pay of our XTerra and get a roadster for her. I am going to keep my Z32TT.

Bummer. This s the first that I have heard about them not having the Z31 cover. We actually have a Z31 too. Too bad about the manifold because that is really what I need done on mine. How about if I send you one? :)

If I hang on to our gift certificate, will you honor it waaaaayyyy in the future when we get the 370? We will definately get the Sport package.

Dee@Amplified 07-09-2009 12:29 PM

Wow some really great shots especially the night ones.

It was an NA manifold, but send me yours and I will coat it, and I will honor the gift cert any time in the future that you want.

NIZMOZ 07-10-2009 10:56 PM

Hope some of you guys make it to ZCON as Z1 Nationals is doing a big caravan here. :)

Mike, thank you very much. That is very generous of you on both counts. The way we had it figured it was to support the event and the local charity anyway. My wife and I are considering how we can donate a print of one of our shots(or two) on canvas or maybe a "shoot" at the event as a raffle item.

Thanks again for supporting our passion and the Z community!

Hey Mike! Looks like everything is going well for you. Took a while but we are finally in the Roadster we wanted. :tiphat:

If I can dig up my certificate, can you do my calipers for me. :)

Thank you for supporting the community!!!

I have to check with Sam to make reservations for ZdayZ 2011 and see what ZCAR plans are too.
