Transmission Sensor?

Took the Z into Nissan to get an oil change on Thursday. While I was signing the bill another guy who worked there told me that Nissan Japan has been looking for cars like mine (instantly got my attention). He then proceeds to ask me what year, and if it was a auto or manual (I have a 09 manual). He then tells me that they want to upgrade some sensor in my transmission and send my old one off too Nissan in Japan to have it examined for wear. It's all going to be done for free and they're giving me a car to drive while they do it. Sounded pretty interesting to me so I agreed and I'm just waiting for the part to come in so they can do it. Any of you guys know anything about this?

I love driving my 370Z too, but when I get the free rental I'll go on a trip, or beat it with miles... I've done a 1500 mile trip in my car and it was REALLY comfortable, but miles are miles, if I was in an Altima, it would've been the same...

I had a rental for 10 days while they replaced my instrument cluster, I put 1800 miles on it... I took my car in, got a rental and put 500 miles on it in a day because I drove from Houston to San Antonio to buy a gun, then to Austin and back to Houston... I avoided 2300 miles of BS driving because of the dealer rentals (and that is an example of only 2 times I used the rentals)... With my previous Maxima I left it at the dealer so I could used another rental to move a lot of my crap from Houston to Dallas too, LOL!!!

The dealer in Houston LOVED me, half of the staff knew me because I brought my car in soooooo many times and they made SOOOOOO much money off my cars' "problems" (The Maxima went through $14,000 of repairs in 11 months, 3 of which I was back home in CA, so 8 effective months) :bowrofl:

This is nothing new. Had Toyota do this on my Scion tC with some emissions components. In the end they just want parts to test and nothing more. Obviously they test and test and test before the vehicle hits the market but real world miles at the hands of the general public provide the best testing possible.

In other words "DON'T OVER THINK THIS TOO MUCH".

Tell them you will gladly hand your car over for full extensive long term testing for wear and tear if you are allowed to test drive your potential replacement for the Z in a GT-R during their testing timeframe.

Took the car in monday. The sensor they took out to send off measures how much the transmission turns or something. I don't really remember. BUT they gave me a 75$ gift card. I'll take free money any day of the week. It only took them an hour to do.

Nice:tup: doesn't sound to bad at all!
