Clutch questions

I'm having to replace my slave cylinder in my nismo which only has 39.5k miles on it. Since the slave cylinder is in the tranny my question is should I go ahead and replace the clutch disk and fly wheel? How many miles should a clutch be good for? It has been suggested that since the tranny is open to go ahead and replace the clutch disk/fly wheel while we are in there. Just want some opinions from you all.

Thanks
CT

I would say it depends on how hard you were on your car over those almost 40,000 miles. If you have the extra cash, replace it all for peace of mind.

i'm the 3rd owner, first owner had it for for approx 30k and replaced the master cylinder at 27k second owner drove it till about 35k and i've had it ever since so it's hard to say how it was treated.

I'm thinking i may have the guy tear it down to replace the the slave cylinder and if the clutch looks worn then replace it then. But i'm curious to know what others are getting out of their clutches wit good driving and hard driving. I know there are some driver's out there that go like a bat out of hell.

You have a good idea. Tear it down and go from there.

My car, I'm the second owner. I bought it with 6800 miles on it. Currently there is 10,000 miles on it and I just replaced the clutch, flywheel, CSC only because I'm installing a Boosted Performance twin scroll turbo kit (+500 whp). Anyways, the stock clutch and flywheel looked new still. I would guess your clutch will be fine too. But you can't go wrong with playing it by ear like you already mentioned.

Maybe replace the pressure plate and disc, but not the flywhel unless its cracked or warped. If it warped, you would feel vibrations.

With 40k on the clock, its not a bad idea to go ahead and replace it. You have the right idea though, inspect it first. On the other hand, it would suck to put it back together then have to replace it at 55k. Most of the clutches I have done on Z34's fail around 60k, depends heavily on driving habits though.
