Do we know this for sure on the 3.7? For the DE I know this was the case. But Ive seen the 3.5 HR's have been making good gains on bolt on and tune a la A.H. et al. So Im hopeful that Nissan left room for the tuners to exploit. Havent seen what the G37 guys are getting boltonwise though. Im gonna take a look at there forum later... |
SnakeBitten " qoute " Agreed:tup:
I'm not going to track, more intrested in show!! Oh, thanks for every opinions on the wheels:icon17: |

I like what SnakeBitten said about stripping it a little, there's nothing I'd rather do than rip the interior, add a cage, racing buckets, harnesses, brakes, plex windows, coilovers, carbon everything, hoosiers and a 6 speed sequential. However, this also has to be my daily driver that I have to drive to work... eventually it will become a pure track car, but thats not going to happen for a few years. For now its going to be Bose audio and navi with lots of little mods for weekend trackdays ;) |

This will be my weekend car, so I will be making it a better version of what it already is, and was meant for. I don't fit into a lotus so strike that option, and I happen to enjoy the Z (at least past generations, as I have to drive the Z34). Everything I mentioned doing to my personal car is based off of what I will be using it for, again which is the intended purpose of the car. I have no problems with other people doing ridiculous things to their cars, if they want it for show so they can look cool and cruise around in then that is their business. This is an enthusiast community (at least I thought it was), so when someone posts something asking for input, I am going to give it. If you don't like it, tough **** man, didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Take a look at Nissan's design goals for this car, and you will understand why I have a hard time understanding why people would choose it to fulfill their audio/bling/show-off goals. Seems there are other far better options out there for that kind of thing. But if you want to do it, by all means it's your money, do what makes you happy. When you express those goals in an enthusiast community I am not going to sugar coat my feelings on the matter. |

So its common sense to buy a Z, strip out everything you paid for thus devaluing the car, turn it into a crude car which is NOT what it was meant to be and that is common sense vs the guys who put PLUS 1 20's and ICE on their STREETCAR 370z. lmao at your logic. Nissans "design goals" was to have an interior, ride nice, play good sounds and operate in a safe manner on the street first and foremost. They did not design this car for owners to strip out the interior to make it better lol.... You keep tripping up on your own words and cant seem to realize you have no right to chastize anyones choice as your choice 99% of us enthusiasts wont ever do to the Z. You can keep frothing at the mouth and going on about how you are going to speak your mind blah blah blah....One simple cliche rule for you. Pot Kettle Black....I hate getting into these kinds of post but you are hilarious....:icon17: |

While I have no issues having a productive conversation with you in regards to our philosophy, I have no desire to argue with you. I personally would not strip out my car in the manner you have suggested. I mentioned taking out a few components would be prefferable in my eyes to adding needless clutter. I am not arguing a one is better than the other by any means. I merely believe that there are better options for such build goals. I would wager that the design goals for Nissan with this car was to offer a smaller, lightweight, efficient, economical, ergonomic, more powerful, comfortable for daily use, and affordable iteration of the Z car. I doubt their goals include "interior" and "play good sounds" (hence the common sense remark). I do not recall chastising anyone's choices, or even insulting anyone. Again this is a forum, full of enthusiasts. I am not "frothing at the mouth and going on about how you are going to speak your mind" I am merely participating in the discussion. I am sorry you feel the need to take this so personally, we both have our own opinions and thoughts, I am stating mine. I am glad you are so entertained. |

Basic bolt ons such as an intake, headers (not aware of any for the VQ 3.5 HR) and exhaust would be worth it. Combined together they increase performance and can increase fuel economy as well. I'd consider those three mods as they become available for the 370Z. I'm not sure I'd go further than that though, I doubt I'd get really hardcore and start messing with suspension, brakes, advancing timing, etc... etc... |

The problem is that yes, there are two separate worlds here, but the dynamics of the situation is what angers some of us. Now this is just my opinion and I think I'm entitled to one if you argue someone should be allowed to ruin their own car without getting chastised for it. The enthusiasts modify their cars and make sexy purposeful cars. The pseudo-enthusiast benefit from this because the car gets a good rep and respect from the rest of the car world. The pseudo-enthusiasts then decide to get 21" chrome "rims" with "fat lip" and a mismatched turbo kit that makes the car drive like crap. They get super lowering crap springs and the biggest loudest blow-off valves money can buy. They get super sweet neons and LED's all up in their shiz and get a kickin' stereo setup with enough power to light up Latvia for a week. This douche-baggery makes all Z owners look bad...I dont know about you, but I dont like to look bad. Just because we want to get along, it doesn't mean we can't call people out on this type of things. I try to be as respectful as possible to everyone and give them the benefit of the doubt that they dont know any better. However, at least where I live (Miami), there are too many blow-out sporting tight-fake-versace-shirt-wearing idiots who think that they look cool with mismatched color body panels. These guys know perfectly well what they are doing, they are the guys with the 22"s and the Injen stickers everywhere. There's unfortunately this entire community of racer wannabes that have grown enough in numbers where they actually have an audience of equally poserish racers. (As faithfully depicted by their favorite movie Fast and the furious") OK enough ranting. I can understand both sides of the argument here. It just saddens us enthusiasts to see perfectly good cars which have been obviously designed with performance in mind, to be so horrendously ruined. Of course at the end of the day, I am NOBODY to criticize what anyone else does. Although I dont agree with some of the things I see, I can respect it... I'll definitely say something about it, but it's not like Im out to put everyone who doesnt agree with me down. Which is what a lot of people do actually... You want to put crap on your car, go nuts. If you want to put crap on your car and then you POST about it on a public forum, then by god are you going to get peoples opinion be it good or bad. If you are prepared to get good opinions, be more prepared for people to disagree with you. Specially if you post your craziness on the internet. Quote:
Just be sure to maintain respect for people. If everyone though the same thing then these forums would be extremely boring. |

Even with the R&D of Nissan, they are producing a compromise between luxury, performance and comfort. Certain mods may negate some comfort for performance, but may be quite worthwhile to the owner. |

I know exactly where both of you are coming from and completely understand both sides thats why Im being objective. I see the merits of both sides. Not everyone lives there lives a 1/4 mile at a time:icon17: The majority of Z's will never see the track so why should all of us turn it into a track car. At the same time you mess with the balance of the car with +3 on dub rims and laden it down with heavy ICE. One is acceptable for the street/show and the other better suited to tracking. No need to pop a blood vessel if someone else is doing what you wouldnt do. I honestly dont see the ICE and Dub guys getting this worked up about what the performance focused crowd is doing. |

I respect all opinions about my ideas on mods. nice or ugly, I'm fine with all opinions. But I really don't understand why other ppl have to make rude reply's.... If you don't like street cars, don't turn your car into street cars I don't like to track so I will not track (mod)... you ask why I put big wheels and heavy sounds on a light weight sports car? The DA** car looks hot!!!! And I agree you have your rights to your opinions But I hope you figured out that what you said was not really nessessary!!:shakes head: |
Quote:
It was necessary to say, I'd hate to see someone who is interested in Z's to come into this forums and see a thread called "Prepared Mods for 370Z" and find 2 pages of people agreeing with what you said. What you should know is that people DO know the difference between Konigs and HRE's or Volks. If you want your car to have people saying "DASS car looks hot!!!!" then you can't be putting crappy wheels on your ride. Konigs belong on GT-Winged quad exhaust 94' civics, not on Z's. You feel me? |

We are all here because we like 370z, no need to dis-agree and conflict about what style you or I like!! I posted to see opinions about the mods, not to see someone tell me what I HAVE to do to MY car with MY money.. I want a street car, so I will be happy with street mods.... Ok you or other ppl don't like the wheels or something else, please tell me WHY!!! cheap, not good looking, heavy, bad off-set, ect. I'm willing to listen to reasonable advice NOT crappy words of what you want NOTE : what you want isn't always what others :stfu: YOU feel me??????? |
wow, this thread exploded
different ppl = different tastes Don't try to change someone else style to what you want.....just let them be !!! |
haha this isnt exploding at all. Relax.
I like everyone here, but just be willing to listen to what others have to say. I'm not going to tell you not to do something, ever. That's stupid, I have no control over what you do. I will disagree with you though, all day long if I want to. Your car, your choice, your lifestyle. Just don't post it on the internet and expect people not to speak their mind. My apologies if you have been offended, not my intent. I won't apologize for my opinion though. I am giving you advice. My advice is: There are about 2,000 better wheels that you probably will like even more than that one which you should at least consider. The Konigs are weak. They will bend if you hit a pot hole. The Konigs are painted, they will chip if some stones come up and hit the paint. The Konigs are heavy, it will steal your horsepower, make your car feel lazier and decrease your gas mileage. Those are all very objective things. Nothing to do with my liking or disliking them. I'm not even going to argue with you though, I honestly don't care about what you do or don't do. |
I too would NEVER put Konigs on my Z as I think the Z deserves much better. I only responded that way because it looked like there was general frowning on all dubs and ICE and wasnt specifically directed. Im all for tasteful well thought out mods on either side of the spectrum and a serious dose of constructive criticism when needed. Im speaking for myself on this one as Im sure not all agree with my sentiments.
|
If you are referring to me, I entirely agree.
I like show cars too, in fact I go to shows like SEMA to check out the show cars, but they will never be as sexy as the exposed welds or the carefully sculpted dry carbon aero components on a race car. I feel like I'm starting to come off as a mean guy because on some threads it seems I don't even like the Z and others I'm just criticizing people for what they want. Lets set the record straight. I love the new and old Z. What I don't love are fanboys who blindly claim things without any sort of factual proven information because in reality they don't know anything and dub-clad blinging street racers. I don't try to put people down, I just tell you what I think. |

It's ok, THANKS for your advice, that's what I want!! Thanks to others ppl's advice too:tiphat: Now: Please show me 2,000 better wheels that I probably will like... I do like these wheels but the lip??? http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheel...ts_b_ci3_l.jpg |

There are probably some better choices out there coming up, but I'm being impatient and want these things in the next couple of weeks. Looks like Nismo parts are the only thing ready to purchase at the moment. Anyone in So Cal area that can recommend a shop for Nismo parts and install at a good price?? Thanks  Braden |

TerribleOne.. I like the way you think minus the full kit, I personally just like to keep it simple with just a front lip and rear diffuser of some sorts. Mesh 8's are sick any pics of them on a Z?, I've only seen them on bimmers.
