Balanced pulley being developed
 
I sent an email to ATI Performance and to Fluidampr inquiring about a balanced crank pulley option for our car. ATIs response was optimistic so I decided to share. Rep me in the face if u like it. I think sending emails to show interest would help speed things up.

ATIs response:
"It is in the works but not in the near future, it will be over the winter before it is released.

Hi i was wondering if you were developing a lightweight and/or underdrive pulley for the Nissan VQ37. Aftermarket pulleys have been a contraversial topic on our forums since the 370z and g37 were first released. Stillen pulleys, as well as other brands, have caused damage to many cars and lots of drivers are in need of a solution. Thank you for any input.

Thank you for the email and your interest in Fluidampr products and services.

You do have it correct regarding light weight pulleys. The fact is engines that do not use a damper often lead to failure due to excessive wear on internal components.

Due to the high costs of engineering and manufacturing we do not offer a Fluidampr for the VQ37 application at this time. In order for us to develop a damper for a customer we require a 100 piece minimum order. If we choose to manufacture the damper for our product line and catalog, no minimum order is needed. However, this is done through market research and through contact with our large distributors. At this point we have not had the demand to warrant manufacturing this application.

Amazed at how much "evidence" there is for lightweight pulleys damaging our engines.

You obviously haven't done any research on the topic. Under-drive and/or Lightweight pulleys both have unique advantages while Harmonic Balancers prevent vibration that can lead to crankshaft failure and/or fusion with the pulley. Feel free to educate yourself on both topics and I won't waste time explaining. It doesn't always happen but it's a chance that I choose not to take bc this is a universal issue when choosing an aftermarket pulley. Crankshafts even break in LS engines from the same thing if someone doesnt want to spend the extra $$$ on a fluidampr. The last pulley that I saw for sale was taken down bc the owner said "it would not come off".

that video prove absolutly nothing

come on he torque down the main bolt with an impact
then
he apply HEAT ! to that bolt which will infact EXPAND in the crank

good luck getting it.

I still have my NST lightweight pulley that I took off from my engine after 70 000km being on there .. absolutly no sign of damage whatoever on the pulley itself.

That's not where the damage occurs. I'm can't say that it was the cause in any one case, yours included, but for every single decently documented case of a 370z engine tearing itself apart there were lightweight crank pulleys involved.

GTM also made a full thread right up about the damage the pully can cause, but I'm sure GTM one of the best aftermarket supplier/builder or our platform and the company who has developed almost every kind of FI setup including the first twin supercharged setup is just making things up.

Your oil pump shattered with the NST pulley on. You might not think it caused it but it still makes me nervous.

When I saw a SuperDamper on a 1100 horsepower modular V8, I believe nothing about how an engine can be completely internally balanced.

if you would have followed my thread you would know the failling oil pump was not due to the lightweight puulley but from the VVEL that got broken first then debris went sucked up at the oil pump.

broken parts of about 1mm was found in the oil pump section (which doesnt belong to the oil pump material) and it show us that the oil pump lived far longer than the blown VVEL

once debris get stuck in the very very tight oil pump gear , it doesnt take much to break to it.

edit; and I still feel quite confident to put that same lightweight pulley back on.
