Traction control fun driving hurt my car?
I have a friend to told me that when I give the back end a little flick around a corner with traction control ON its hurting my car. I dont drive it hard but giving it a lil *** slide here and there is fun. Any input?

No, that is what it is made for. All it is doing is using the brakes to control wheel slip and limiting the throttle if needed. Nothing is being hurt. The only damage might come if you over use it, like driving poorly at the track during a 30 minute session, and it over heats your brakes. That wouldn't happen on the street however.

If you're having fun... turn it off. You can have more fun that way!
Besides, having it kick on and off while your screwing around is more likely to make the car more unpredictable. |

ya im not trying to slide into a wall or buy tires all the time.

How do you even get it to kick with VDC on????
|
Turn off VDC and practice feeling the rear tires lose traction. Do this in a safe area and not on the road until you have a good feel for it, or things will probably end badly.

I had one good traction control save this past weekend. Up here with the colder weather the tires have little traction. I shifted midway through a left handed turn in a intersection and even with the traction control was sideways. It kicked back in harder that I would have imagined, worked awesome. Without it I would have been in a curb, it stays on for me.

There is a very popular and very true saying. "You have to power through it." |

I had some fun on a twisty road with VDC off in complete control...and the traction control kept cutting in? At least, I think it did because the light kept flashing when I gave the car a few slides around some hairpins. Either it was just indicating slip and allowing the LSD to work as intended and I was indeed carrying the car through those corners in total control, or it was cutting off power.
I don't have this issue when the road is straight, as the car will light the rears up all the way to redline on a cooler day when the tire temps aren't up. |
No it does that. Mine does the same, even with VDC off it will still interfere occasionally.
