Anyone know what a rear bumper goes for?

This is a ridiculous scenario, but my girlfriend, while trying to get something out of the glove box, managed to release the parking break and roll the car backward down the driveway into a van. It looked pretty bad; I thought she totaled the rear end for sure. To my surprise, it doesn't look all that bad. There is one large dent, in the shape of the van's wheel well, but it's not very noticeable unless you're right up close or run your hand against it. She doesn't want to spend the money to have the plastic bumper replaced, but I take pride in the look of the car and it's bothering the hell out of me.

Sorry for the long intro, but does anyone know how much the bottom plastic piece that sits over the rear bumper costs if I were to have it replaced? Also, is it just that simple of a replacement or is it more involved than I'm even aware of?

Thanks!

I'm at work right now, but I'll try and sneak out and grab a pic. It literally looks like a streak of dirt that starts at the right tail light and arches into the licence plate panel. That panel has the worst of it but even still it's tough to notice. Luckily the trunk area is unharmed and all of the damage seems to be on bumper only. I just don't know how difficult of a replacement that would be, if it's a viable option.

Here are some pics I took over lunch. It's a bit wet outside so it further blends the dent, but you can see the arch I'm talking about. Sorry for the sideways pics.

I know, I was totally surprised by the lack of damage; I thought for sure she messed it up. I guess the large rear end absorbed most of the impact. The van it hit surprisingly also had minimal damage. I'm thinking it's not fixable though, even as minor as it is. They'll probably replace the whole bumper. It feels plastic, so I'm assuming it's just a replaceable cover, but I could be incredibly wrong about that. If anyone knows otherwise, your input would be much appreciated.

Just in case you need a new bumper, here is one for $400.

I had something similar happen to me.

I had someone idle into the back of my car at a stoplight. The incident put some nice indentations on the lower portion of my bumper, right above the foglight. I thought I'd have to replace the bumper, but the body shop was able to fill the spots, paint/blend the damaged area, and re-clear the entire bumper. Looked good as new.

I'd say there's a pretty good chance you may not need a new bumper, just a repair and repaint.

Good luck!

Some people sell some in the classifieds and on eBay for like 200$ roughly.

I feel your pain.

My Z is in a huge parking garage filled with old beaters most of the day. A couple weeks ago, I was walking up to my car after a long day (eager for a fun drive home) and found that someone had apparently backed into my rear bumper and left a sizable dent just above the fog light..

I haven't decided what to do yet. Hoping someone needs to sell their mag black bumper soon lol.

Good luck to ya

For a clean bumper $200 is pretty optimistic, even without shipping.
