Funny I love my Z, one day I might let it go but for now I love the car too much. I do plan on having it another 4 years or so.

cossie1600 10-11-2012 11:46 PM

I traded my beloved Nissan Cube for a new baby mobile, trading the Z never cross my mind even though the car is far from perfect

Lies!!!!!! Your gonna dump it for a Veloster Turbo or something.

Zoren 370 10-11-2012 11:55 PM

This Forum drives "everyone" crazy!!! That is why "everyone" is selling the Z.

SolidRed370Z 10-11-2012 11:58 PM

Or could it be that you drive everyone crazy on the forum? which makes everyone sell their beloved Z

I bought the Z for it combination of styling and respectable performance. I still think it's the best looking sub $40 sports car on the planet. That's enough of a reason to love my car... and keep it.

no i definitely did my hw or else id be in a vette instead. i didn't buy the car for the straights. i got it for the twisties and drifting, plus the styling cues. when i do want to punch it on an empty stretch of road, it's just been boring is all i'm saying

wdkwang 10-12-2012 01:03 AM

sorry, when i said everyone i meant the particular owners around my area. there's a local 370 meet and it just died. people just selling left and right. plus there's always a plethora of z's being sold in the Sales section and the car's been out only a few years. i know some people change it up almost every year but there is a lot of sale threads for a fairly rare car on the road, much less the actual amount of owners that are on this forum.

SolidRed370Z 10-12-2012 01:29 AM

Well the Z is not for everyone and some people just have to find that out for themselves. Many people get rid of them llike you said because of financial problems, kids, and other priorities. But for the few that do love the Z car with hold on and cherish it forever (or at least till they upgrade). But I bought mine cuz I grew up around the Z car and have loved it ever since I was a kid.

I am 48, keeping cars for a while is just what I do. I did a LOT of research before my purchase, unlike some I knew what I was getting into.

I hear ya bro... I wasn't talking about you specifically. I've just seen so many threads where people are complaining that there Z isn't faster.

It's a fun car to drive but it's not a super car or a race car. It's a super sexy, middle of the pack sports car. Love it for what it is. Don't hate it for what you want it to be.

This is pretty much my approach. I'm only 26, but I drove my previous car for 9 years before getting the Z. I plan on driving this one for a good 15 years before really moving on. I will eventually get something to supplement though, but I still have a few years before I need to think about that.

drifting it will be interesting when the VDC is never fully off. Have you tried drifting it? Im guessing itll be pretty hard to hold with stock hp and that KK a$$.

m4a1mustang 10-12-2012 09:23 AM

I will say I have never been on a forum where so many people (a vocal minority, anyways) have been so concerned with what other people are doing with their lives. As if someone trading in their Z on something else has any impact on your life whatsoever!

Personally I'm probably keeping the car for 5-6 years. I'm already bored of the power, and the amount of money spent for full bolt-ons/tune or boost comes with unsatisfying gains in terms of hp/$. For handling the curves and drifting, it does well, but the straights leave much to desire.

I sold my Z last month. I loved the car. it was 2010 Fully loaded all options.. with 8,000 miles.. I just got married, bought a new house, thinking of expenses and moving forward, it was not practical to keep a 2 seater sitting in garage, payments and not even drive in winter.. harsh winters here in Northern Virginia. I traded in/ and got a 2013 mazda CX-5 (love the space, 31MPG city, lack of power..need to live w/ that)..oh well, but it's about priorities..

Z is a great car. BUT there is a time and place for everything in life.
In a few years, I will either getting a GT-R or 4 seater sports sedan.. (M5 or Panomara).. let's see..

BTW. Anyone in DC area looking for a great deal. My Z is at Arlington Mazda for a pretty decent price.. Fully loaded.. Rev.D lock installed.. absolutely perfect.

TheGreatOne 10-12-2012 09:36 AM

I probably got my Z with odd timing

Just before having a baby, after a 65K wedding, living in a condo which requires me to rent a spot...

BUT, I love this thing, I have some "Z" fanboyism in me.....so she's not going anywhere...some people are just not attached to their car as much, I on the other hand get very attached, especially as its a car I've wanted for ages.

I would only get rid of it if it became a strain which in some ways it is, but I'll do whatever is necessary to keep her

I love the car for what it does and what it was made to do

Maybe other forums don't have that exact symptom, but every car forum has loads of insecure posts about the cars. I'm a member of three currently, and a lurker on a few more. There are always these sorts of posts, maybe not about "who's selling", but about plenty of other stuff.

I'm on more car forums than I can count on two hands and I've never seen anything like this before.

Actually, considering I have to buy everything you buy, your choice to buy or sell cars has a huge impact on my life.

FT86 boards are very insecure about speed and comparing the car against more expensive competition.

Corvette boards are insecure about the C7 design, the viper, the mustang

A European board I used to frequent was insecure about anything American outperforming anything European or Japanese.

Every board has its drama and insecurities.

it drifts and holds well in wet or dry, obviously more throttle needed and much rubber burning in the dry, but it does very well drifting except for the VLSD. it sucks because it overheats very quickly in 10-15 minutes and i have to just park and let it chill out until it's cool enough again. i'd just be sliding and then suddenly it'll let go and then it's randomly open diff time. So a 2way lsd would make the car perform a lot better. I drove my friend's LS6 swapped 240 with a 1.5way and man, that **** was so easy to drift. every time i thought i was at the point of spinning out (like i would have in the z), it just kept going and going cause of that lsd. the vdc supposedly not being fully off doesn't bother me cause i dont feel it bogging or watever. i dont use vdc regardless.

this is a local park near me. just messing around

Why sell?
The warranty was useless. ..breakdowns at 2 months old cos the car was so old!
Nissan/dealer sold me a NEW guaranteed 2010 made, car in August 2010.
They registered it with gummt as 2010 manufactured.
It took me 18 months to prove it was made in May 2009 (difficult to prove in Europe)
Nissan/dealer offer 2 years extra warranty (see warranty above: sense of humor neh?`)
"Nissan" is Nissan: All are unprepared to show their names....unlike the USA.
My son (wanted a GTR after owning a GTiR for years) soooo
he saw this lot taking place so bought an Audi S3 ... fantastic car with a DSG box.
My wife cancelled her order for a Nissan shopper and bought an i10 (also good).
I do not trust Nissan...or the dealership....or the car....what's next?

So how can one like a beautiful looking car, but of such dubious parentage?

OH! and they even delivered it in the wrong colour.

not sure either, but sounds like it was more an issue with the dealer and not the brand/car itself from what i can gather. calling a car crap because of a shady dealer is pointing the blame the wrong way IMO.

:iagree: Where I live the Z is perfect year round, and I love taking it to my GF's relatives in Fresno, about a 3 hour drive, and then beating on the Z all day long up in the mountain twisties and some awesome straights :). When I get married I already said I'm keeping the Z and turning it into a proper racecar with my buddy after I get a second vehicle (Probably a truck again, I miss my truck so much OMFG!!!!).

Anyway, the Z is ******* great, and so far the best bang for the buck of any car in my book.

I'm pretty bad at understanding what is sarcastic here and what is not. I love my Z like crazy, and I'm sure there are more people on this forum who agree with me than those who complain about their car.

But I guess those who are selling are doing so for no specific reason in particular besides that its time for a change.
