good write up but honestly if i was going to buy a muscle car it will be the dodge challenger srt8

it weighs 2 tons, its slow accelerating, and it feels like a tank when driving, but it is a fun car to drive and i honestly have to say when i rented a dodge challenger, i loved that car

I do wish they would "do more" with the mustang interiors.... don't even get me started with the camaro interior. the Z interior was one of the biggest selling features for me, subjective I know.

same here, camaro interior is the worst, mustang does better but, 370 is best of the 3

Yup. Nice write up, but I have to agree with others that the interior in the Z is far better than the Stang. I think, based on your write up, that you meant interior features more than actual interior quality. It definitely sounds like you get more gadgets and features in the Stang. But the interior quality and craftsmanship in a Stang is just a hair above ghetto IMO. It was the main thing that turned me away after my test drive. Granted, this wasn't the latest model Mustang. So hopefully it's improved some, but in general American cars have crap interiors. Plastic everything, cheap layout, loose panels, etc.

The acceleration is a big difference. Where I feel the Z actually feels like it's struggling or working really hard, the Mustang and Corvettes do it effortlessly. A lot of it has to do with the vibration and feedback I feel in my Z compared to those cars. Glad you're happy with it though. That's all that matters. There is no better car, only what makes you happy.

just to be clear here, what you are saying is "I've never been in one, but I'll offer my opinion anyways"?

Not a huge fan of the retro interior on the Mustang, but I love what they're doing with the new Fords. The ST's interior was really nice, especially with the Recaros.

Our ST kicks *** inside. I'm sure the new Mustang will be sweet. All of the new Fords are really nice inside and out.

As far as the retro styling... I liked it a lot. Materials... no different than my 370Z in terms of fit/finish/quality. The only difference is the Mustang has the plastic door panels which annoyed me. Should have been soft touch like the dash.

Models haven't changed all that much between the last two versions. Nor have American manufacturers in the last 30. So yea, I'll give my opinion based on plenty of exposure. I also see them every day. I know what the inside looks like. Enough to not have to touch it.

I think between the stang and camaro, The camaro is a little better... Not by much. The advantage of the mustang is the center dash computer thingy... But in looks. The mustang imho has the most annoying looking sports car dash out right now. It's so ugly that it's 35% of the dealbreaker, only because you have to chronically look at gauges while driving it. Dealbreaker number one is the sedanish seating position. Horrid. last would be steering feel.

I test drove a new Camero. It rides like crap compared to my Z. I've owned a 1968 and 1969 Camero. That made the new Camero feel like I was driving an Impala because it's so big.

I rent them.... I have pushed them well over 125mph. You wouldn't know till you really drive one. Spend $400 on a weekend and really drive one. I've rented a stang and vette too. I do more than just 5 mile test drives when there's a rental available. Have you tried the 1LE? Have you driven the v6 or SS? Rides like crap? I don't know about that. I have a Z too... And yeah, My Z gives a much sportier ride. My Z is also 600 lbs lighter and missing two seats. :ugh2:

It would be ignorant to compare a Sport car to a GT car. The Z gives something the camaro can't and VICE VERSA Next time give an apples to apples comparo.

I got close to buying a new Mustang. The thing that kept me away was the sheer amount of Mustangs there are on the road. You can't drive down the street and back without seeing at least 3 or 4 (albeit mostly v6's) but still there are simply so many on the road one has a hard time differentiating yours from the pack of soccer mom's that want to relieve their college days.

That being said, all in all a good car, I really like the new Mustangs and actually came from the Foxbody's to join the Z club.
