Call me crazy...

Not sure How it would even Look....I was washing my Z for the....well who's counting.....and was Looking at the car....My mind went back to a Buddy of Mine who had a 70 something corvette..which is cool enough...but the part I liked best was it had Side Pipes.....and was looking at the Z and it's one of the few cars in my mind that could pull it off....it it was done right....

You are crazy, because you asked, but I like the idea. :icon17:

Can you photo shop your vision?

370Z Purist 10-02-2012 09:49 PM

It can be done but does involve a lot of modification to the body; the tunnel is where the exhaust parts already sit, so you'd have to cut out parts of the body to have it done.

dmhenderson 10-02-2012 10:22 PM

it'd be cheaper to buy the 'vette

jcosta79 10-03-2012 08:49 AM

The 370Z has trouble sounding good as it is. Putting side pipes on it would only make it worse. Not to mention the heat in the cabin that would produce. (Think Viper)

I'm thinkin' you're ... INSANE :nutswinger:

tibal 10-03-2012 09:00 AM

I like where you are going with this. I know in the Maxima crew there were a couple guys who made side exit exhausts and they looked pretty sick.

cossie1600 10-03-2012 09:00 AM

also illegal in some states

I know

Not that I think it would happen nor could I do something like that....But it would Look so Cool with Side Pipes.. Just the kind of body shape it would look good on......and yea Most that know me call me crazy....LOL

dmhenderson 10-03-2012 08:51 PM

Honestly, I think it'd be too much chrome and might ruin the lines of the car but I'd have to see a mock-up.

Edit: Would probably work better on the roadster than the coupe.

It's only hot in the '03-'06 Vipers due to the exhaust crossover that runs just under the seats. The '08+ corrected this and got rid of it...in cabin temperatures dropped dramatically.

Look up your state statue, every state is different. It is only allowed if it comes from the factory or meets a bunch of qualifications

Good to know! Do the side sills still get hot, or has that been taken care of too?

onzedge 10-04-2012 09:28 AM

The sidesills still get very hot! I don't think I've had a single passenger that hasn't learned their lesson :rofl2:

That might not be a big deal on a car that only sold a few hundred copies each year and the owners knew what they were getting into. But could you imagine the lawsuits Nissan would get from people if they put something like that in the Z?

:rofl2:

Coon-azz 10-04-2012 02:11 PM

Thought the same thing but with an LS 9 motor swap in the Z. Very loud though, but cool!

Maybe the rear side skirt cut out and and long exhaust tips shooting out the side. Long ones from the front of the side skirt like on the vettes may look quirky. I'd love to see it though.
