How Fast

How fast would the 370 Z top out if it were not Electronically limited to 155mph...???? on a Stock car

I've heard it is drag limited to not that much higher -- around 165 or so according to some knowledgeable posters.

See the last page of this thread

I've got to think the drag cant be 40mph less then a 200mph Vett, 160mph mfr drag...has to be insurance based , like they did to 400 +hp cars in the 60-70s,lower rated = less insurance then what about now .

BTW I LUV this video
Nissan 370Z Speed Limit Canceler by Young Motors(390km/h) - YouTube

And yes I know that car can't do this on the road, drag would prevent it .

remove the limiter and let us know. I'm sure it's really important to find out this information for some reason. :ugh2:

165-170 depending on wind and whether the road was level or not (or uphill/downhill).

nmjaxx9 10-03-2012 08:36 PM

I remmeber 175 from that thread or something close to that either way the Z def moves in the triple digits :driving:

Where do you plan to attempt it?

jcosta79 10-04-2012 09:49 AM

I hit the low 150's in my 2003 350Z (I didn't get to the limiter and ran out of road). I would imagine the 370 would hit around 165~ish with the extra power?

Might not be important but its something that would be cool to know. Relax.

On an infinitely flat road using the coefficient of drag listed, an approximate frontal area, and whp the limit is in the 180s but for all practical purposes 160s is about right.

It's probably close to 160-165mph mark, but you would need a whole lot of tarmac to get there. Air is like a thick soup once you get to those speeds. Your rate of return deminishes as you go faster. 332hp won't get you more than those speeds with the aerodynamics of the Z. If it makes you feel better, speed is relative and technically speaking, the Z is spinning at a rate of 700-1000mph standing still due to the Earth's rotation.....or try it out in Gran Turismo:icon23:

NissanGuy23 10-04-2012 04:24 PM

With the great aero of the 370z, cd OF 0.29 and .30, I'm betting it can pass 170mph.

The NSX can hit 170+ and it has 280 HP and cd of 0.32.

Im sure the NISMOs top speed is less due to the huge downforce created. I would guess the NISMO tops out at 162 ish

Kingbaby 10-04-2012 04:30 PM

no data for this but for the nismo at 165 there is a brick wall...

leighspped 10-04-2012 05:14 PM

u can hit 171mph loaded with an extra 300-400 lbs,(people subs and a dog), i had gps to verify. speedo read a little over 175

but thats with limiter removed so.... dont know if it helps

Japanjay 10-04-2012 05:19 PM

I can honestly say I dont think that it will top at 165, my z has no problem getting to 155mph so I think it could do better then another 10 or so mphs before gassing out. The big problem is at 140mph the sport version starts to get alot of lift on the front making it really unstable and quite honestly scary.
