Would This Look Tacky?
So I was thinking of getting the Fairlady Z emblem - but instead of taking of the factory 370z emblem on the trunk left hand side... I was just thinking of putting the Fairlady emblem on the trunk right hand side (so there will be 2 emblems now)
Would that look tacky? Also - found these two on ebay... now sure which one to go with... This one is for $10 NISSAN 300ZX 350Z 370Z FAIRLADY Z TRUNK BADGE EMBLEM | eBay This one is for $20 Nissan 370Z Z34 JDM Fairlady Z Rear Emblem - Brand New | eBay Also found these door stickers..... (2pcs) FAIRLADY Z doorstep badge decal nissan 350Z 370Z 300ZX | eBay Again - is that tacky or do you think it will look good? My car colour is blue. Thanks guys |

:iagree:
Absolutely. You should also add a park bench spoiler to your car while you're at it. But in all honesty, if you really want to put in the fairlady Z emblem, just replace the 370z emblem. Also, you're putting in stuff that was from the 350z, if you really plan on doing so. |
People who don't know the history of the Z will give you weird looks when they see it.

It's like putting a translation on your car. It is tacky in my opinion. I took my emblem out and left the donut. Let them who do not know figure what the hell I'm driving.
|
Yes, it would look tacky.
Why? Because the first and third link you posted are for the 350Z, not the 370Z. The Z's have 3 dots for the 350 and a line going down the middle for the 370 (like in the second link, which is correct for the 370Z) |
Thanks guys ... I didnt even realize the 350z symbol and 370z symbol was different (lol I feel bad now!)
OK does anyone have any idea what a dealership would charge to take the emblem off and put the new one on? Or is it better I go to an aftermarket place... I am in Toronto Canada if anyone wants to recommend a shop. I dont want to spend an arm and leg for this. |

If you have to ask, you already know the answer and just need convincing either way

Get the one on the 2nd link, it's original product from Nissan, $10 difference and the quality is more than 10X better. The first one, regardless it's for 350 or 370, is a :ugh2:, chrome finish VS matt-finish(genuine), not to mention the cheapy-unknown-quality chrome finish might fade after sometimes... :barf: Use a hair-dryer to heat/warm the emblem and use dental floss to cut through the double-side tape, remove the residual tape from the panel is a bit tricky and tough on your thumb but it's ok... I just did mine couple weeks ago... and I am from Toronto too!! :tiphat: |
@alcheng: Where did you get the emblem from? The 2nd link unfortunately does not ship to Toronto... they are trying to see if they can get it. Hopefully it wont cost more than $10 to ship... that way I am paying $30 total.
Also - lol im NOT a car guy... I can fix your computer .... but scared to touch anything on the car... I dont trust my own hands... especially on expensive equipment... so Id rather just pay someone to do it! LOL do you wanna do it for me? The only thing I did on my car... which turned out pretty sick... is I used black tape and made a Z stencil on my rear fog light. That way at night when I turn my fog light on ... u see a 'Z' opposed to a big red square. I can post a picture if anyone is interested. |

If you decide to replace the factory emblem and replace it with the Fairlady emblem, use this approach for a clean removal. I had this in another post a while back.
To remove the emblem and tape residue, you can soften and loosen the adhesive by using water, plastic and the heat under the sun. First, cut a 4 x 9 inch piece of plastic garbage bag. Use the thicker plastic if possible. Second, spray the tape residue and surrounding area with water. Third, place the plastic piece over the tape residue and seal the perimeter by running your fingers around it. Fourth, park your care under the sun and let it bake under the sun for about 30 minutes. The trapped heat generated under the plastic will loosen the adhesive and make it easy to peel without using any harmful chemicals or a screw driver wrapped in a sock. The same technique is used to remove tint from your windows. |

Here I was thinking this would turn into that ridiculous troll thread from like a month ago.

Everyone will question why you have two emblems, I would suggest choosing one or the other but not both
