We're considering what defines a sports car, are we not? Mustang still doesn't handle all that well. Might change since they're apparently going to finally kill off the live rear axle.

Live axles may not be the ideal road suspension, but on tracks, they work so well that ford didn't can them. Mustang track times prove that.

Gencoupe reliability in my point has no bearing. Im just saying. 250 lbs and equal rwhp, the gencoupe against a G37s has a slightly more athletic over the G and you can feel it. The Z is way better than both and I wouln't try to compare them beyond a basic level. Just saying.

TBH, Hyundai has most certainly stepped their game up. Their cars are very well built - I never had a single problem with the Sonata and I put a ton of miles on cars quite fast.

As far as the Genny is concerned, they have done quite well with the price point and the latest GDI Theta engine. Very comfortable car and drives well. You can definitely feel the difference when you loose 300lbs going to a Z but the car still gets up.

I ended up going for the Z because of Heritage, the way it felt like I was driving more of a sports car and less of a sports/luxury (like my SC300 in college), and lastly because I wasn't going to see the one I wanted on shore for another two months from when I purchased. Honestly, if the Koreans wouldn't have been on strike, there's a really good chance I would be driving the Hyundai right now. I definitely don't think the car is soulless. Just saying..

And that comment about Samsung is just ludicrous. The Galaxy SIII is disgusting, and I have absolutely loved my 46" LCD since the day I saw it sitting on the shelf in the store!

lose 300lbs going to a Z??? The gencoupe track is 3480-3500 and is pre-equipped so theres not much weight fluctuation. The Z is 3340 if you 12 and up/3315 09-11. That get up and extra go in the Z isn't weight or power, it's a much better tune and transmission. In rwhp, the gencoupe 3.8 and Z rate around the same. You might want to check on that?:ugh2:

Theta is the 2.0 just in case. the 3.8, which we're discussing is the lamda

If you didn't realize I was trolling a little bit, I'm not sure you even read the previous page.

Read the OP; there were stages to the car evaluation. They were supposed to evaluate their looks and feel alone, then drive them. They were probably looking for people who fit their guidelines more than Kenny did (i.e. people who would look at the many sporty cars there and think they're cool and affordable, perhaps the Z fans would be kicked out because of bias, which should be a given).

Also, is it really necessary to triple post?

Thanks for the correction as far as the engine, I got the two twisted and didn't check wikipedia to check the name since I said 3.8 and figure, well hell, what's a name. Good job!

However, regarding the weights, I decided to check again and imagine what I found:

2013 Gen Coupe 3.8 Track A/T - 3483-3613
2013 370z Touring A/t - 3314

Both taken directly from manufacturer websites.

Excuse me for being off by 1 LB.

Oh and if you check my sig you will notice that I purchased the A/T so, no excuses good sir. :tiphat:

Lastly, I do agree with you on one thing, the engineering, tuning and transmission in the Z is better. Guess that's why I'm here now... :rofl2:

No need to bite, you posted exactly what you did and how you expressed yourself. Take the criticism like a man. I didn't put you on blast. You did.

All I'm saying is I would have been honest on why the Z is the better and truer sports car @ the end of the full on set of test drives & reviews to have a documented intellectual speaker on behalf of the Z, while still objectively reviewing the other cars.
But if you'd rather knock yourself out in the beginning with INCREDIBLY subjective and bias chatter... So be it.:tiphat:

2013 Gen Coupe 3.8 Track A/T - 3483-3613
2013 370z Touring A/t - 3314

Both taken directly from manufacturer websites.

Hyundai has two models that comparing to our sport that can be easily used. The R-spec @ 3433 which is 130lbs heavier than our manual sport. Or the track auto which is 3483 without nav.
The 3613lbs you're giving is the hyundai gensis coupe 3.8 grand touring auto to full spec.

Excuse me for being off by 1 LB.

You seriously need to go to NISSANUSA.com and check a 2013
You must be on a rogue 2009-2011 website because the new 2013 Z touring weighs 3353lbs in manual. That new fascia lights and such weigh the car down more, along with the 12 oil cooler. the weight you gave was for an 09-11 touring manual, no nav. Us base model guys with sport see 3269 manual and 3280 auto.
Recheck your stats.

view-source:2013 Nissan 370Z Coupe | Vehicle Specs | Nissan USA

The weight you gave for the genesis coupe 3.8 is a touring/auto/nav.
The R-spec manual is 3430 the track manual without nav is 50lbs heavier @ 3480lbs

GLAD YOUR A NEW Z BUYER THOUGH. Welcome to the club.

Having went to buy a BRZ or 370 in the last 2 months, I felt the Z was the better value, the BRZ was loaded for 38k, my mouth dropped, and with 200hp, I felt I was being had, the 370 @ $37k was the right buy and I juggled for months what to buy so I was sure of my purchase, I looked at everything and the Z has the mystique of a collectors car, I felt like the camaro, mustang were like an IPhone, everyone has one, I see a dozen a day. The genesis was nearly there, just coming from a Hyundai I loved the reliability, but the car sounded like $#!+

shadoquad 09-29-2012 11:56 AM

Brz for 38k?!

10k of that had to be markup. They msrp for 28

Dude, not to sound like a complete jerk or anything, but what part of my post didn't you understand to completely miss the fact that I am purposely comparing the A/T versions of both vehicles? Allow me to say it again "I purchased a 2013 Touring Z A/T fully loaded, I tested the 2013 3.8 Track (which as you pointed out comes fully loaded by default)." So, don't you think the 300lbs difference that I am referring to would be on the two cars I tested? Why would I post anything about being able to feel the difference on two versions of two cars that I didn't even test???? Also, what part of "Both taken directly from manufacturer websites" didn't you understand? In case clarification is necessary, this means NISSANUSA.com and HYUNDAIUSA.com, so the numbers I posted, now TWICE, are directly from those websites. I believe, YOU need to go revisit those sites and carefully read my post next time.

Lastly, thanks! I am thoroughly pleased with my purchased and have loved every mile that I have put on this car so far.

My thoughts Exactly when I walked up to test drive a 28,000 car the Price tag says 38,000....

It said +$10,000 Dealer Installed Options which was basically everythng that made the car look sporty inside and out, so... I HAVE A FREAKIN Z BABY:happydance:

Mt Tam I am 09-29-2012 06:26 PM

At Leguna Seca I had a Genesis driver tell me about how he wanted to see how our two cars compared. He was an advanced driver and was a Leguna regular. While wearing his fire suit, he went on and on about how he was going to start following my 370 and then he'd pass me up and we'd chat more later.

I never saw him after turn three, and admittedly he only made 4 laps before some issue side lined him, like a lack of an oil cooler. :icon17:

Jeez, I bought my Z in 2011 because I could get it OTD $33.5k with 5 year old pkg & maintenance (don't ask how). If the Z was $37k like this year, I wouldn't even shop for one as that's expensive IMO.
