Is this Nissan dealer Lying to me to get me in the door?

Hi,

New here to the forums but I've reading up quite a bit on the 370. I've yet to test drive one yet. I was considering going to this dealership to test drive a 2011 touring model, so I emailed the dealer asking them about the Syncro Rev Matching.

This is the response I got grammar and all.

Joe,hey this is Alan Young at Tri Cities Nissan, the 2011 370z is a touring model,no sport package, but it is a 6 speed manual which does have sychro rev matching. Call me at 423 -282 -4731 with questions or set up test drive. Thanks,AY

Is this dealer just blowing smoke up my a$$ to get me in the door? Or is he just unknowledgeable about the product? Or do they really make such a beast?

Here is a link to the Car.

2011 Nissan 370Z Johnson City TN

Thanks,
Joe (QuadDragon)

They are definately just trying you get you in the door. The only way to have synchro rev matching 6 speed is with the sports package.

I may go test drive it anyhow since its close, and if I like it buy one cheaper farther away with the SRM. I found a loaded 2010 model with Nav and sport for around 30k. Low mileage.

I never got to test SRM before i bought mine, every time I checked at the dealer they didn't have one with the sports package. I ended up buying mine in Arizona, but the weekend it came in for me to pick it up I had to work, so my now ex-wife drove over there with her brother and they picked it up together.

I bought it brand new in 2010, Roadster, touring w/sport, nav. I Payed $41,000 OTD before trade in/down payment.

Find a used sport package! Or buy the base if you decide your going to be modding the car! It will save you money

Dealers know sh*t.

Well theres a couple of questions to ask to determine whther or not they are lying:

1) are they a car salesman. if so, then yes
2) is there mouth moving. if so, then yes

next question: Why are they selling cars?

1) they are super knowlegable about all cars. so much so they need to sell them to properly inform people about the vehicles they are going to spend $40k+ on.
2) this is the job the always wanted. they are passionate about it, and want u to get the vehicle that fits YOU
3) this was the only job opening available when they got canned from their laast job. the only thing theY know about these cars is what they read on the brochure on the vehicle right as they saw u eying it from inside. they go by what nissan tells them to say to get u in the lot. they don't car about what car fits u, just how much commission they will make by pressuring u into a car u don't truly want.

you know, its amazing to me, how any time i go into a dealership to talk to a salesperson i end up telling THEM about THEIR cars. explaining what it has and why they don't have me by the balls. and its not just z's.

for instance: i am no all knowing car guru by any means. but last week i had a guy tell me that a mazdaspeed that i was looking at (for my gf) had the 18" wheels on it because it was a "premium package". which he then proceeded to tell me added the turbo, spoiler, and hood scoop.... i then explain, no these are all standard on a mazdaspeed. he proceeds to argue with me for 10 min about why its a premium until i say,"i'll go elsewhere" and left.

i don't care if everyone isnt a car person, thats ok with me. But sales people that will blatantly argue incorrect facts WITH A CUSTOMER are ignorant in my book.

end rant/

so to answer your question, yes dealers will misrepresent cars to get u in the lot to push a pressure sale

I was lied to also by a dealership back when I was looking around for z's. I found a z that was listed as having touring and sport package, then the salesman I talked to sent me a link to the car and I saw that it had the base model wheels, so I knew it didn't have the sport package. I asked him about it and he said that "you can't buy the base model z with sport package, it can only have the touring package" as if the nismo only had the sport package. I said I think he's incorrect on that and he insisted that was the case. Well about a week later I sent him a pic of my new base model with sports package from another dealership:happydance:! All I got back from him in a text was a "good luck" lol

Had a dealer tell me that the 2013 solid red he had on the lot is the only red the car comes in. When I told him it was not, he insisted that it was. So I told him to go do some research on his cars before he tries to argue with a customer.

Few weeks later I came by to look to see if they got any more 370Z delivered, same guy came trotting out, saw me and I said "Oh you are the guy that was rude to me, I'll get you someone else". I said "Sure, get me someone who knows their product".

SolidRed370Z 09-21-2012 10:19 AM

The dealerships will always lie to you no matter what car your buying. Most of them (not all) don't know a damn thing about the car they are trying to sell. All they care about is how much money they are going to be making.

Sent from a device that's smarter than me.

scottIN 09-21-2012 11:29 AM

I doubt he was lying. He just doesn't know and doesn't want to take the 2 minutes it would take to find out.

I can tell you more about a Bic pen I sell than most car salesman can tell you about the cars they sell.
