2013 Z.. opinions

i was delivering a stealership today and i spotted 2 new z's and a used '10. sitting in a row. one was midnight blue w/ sport, the other a black base. the 2010 was a black sport. honestly, i love the blue color and the sport wheels are growing on me, i dig them. the new base wheels on the other z where terrible. those where my first thoughts when i seen them.

i had to go back later in the day to pick up packages and i started looking at them again. i do not like the new front ends, the 2 black z's sitting side by side gave a really good comparison. i wish i had my phone in my pocket i woulda taken pics. the older style just does it for me. also who ever owned the '10, they need to be smacked, how could they let the car get so dirty. the paint looked amess. lol shamefull

cooltoy 09-14-2012 09:36 PM

I like the new front better. More grown up. More refined.

TypeOne 09-14-2012 10:08 PM

I dont mind the new ones... they are growing on me.

LakeShow 09-14-2012 11:28 PM

I've ownwed both, 13' is much better.

Rockhound 09-14-2012 11:47 PM

Oh boy! I was really hoping we'd get another '13-bashing thread this week! Mine must be epic fail with not only the "350Z bumper" but I also have the "terrible" 18" rims - I'm ashamed to even take it out of my garage...

Funny, as my rims get almost as many compliments as my interior (persimmon).

lol :icon18: still a gorgeous looking Z!!!

UNKNOWN_370 09-15-2012 12:36 AM

The base rims for sure are a serious improvement over base. I'm not feeling the front end, but the side view is a mild improvement. Lakeshow's statement about softer suspension and lighter-weighted steering is kind of a let-down though.

urdeliveryguy 09-15-2012 12:45 AM

that was the first time i seen a newer one up close, and was really cool to see it side by side with the older one. none of the statements from the first post would deter me from buying a new one... who doesn't like new. also where the new base rims on the older style convert? i could be wrong maybe just look similar.

Haboob 09-15-2012 01:56 AM

Finally got to see some in person today and I'm sold on the front end and new sport rims.

brucelidat 09-15-2012 02:06 AM

Not a fan of the new front end, but I do like the new wheels, both base and sport. The Base wheels have a lot of depth and dimension to them now.

I believe the 2013 18" rims are from the roadster, yes.

If they are? they look nicer on the coupe.

UruZai 09-15-2012 02:25 PM

I like the new bumper and sport rims, that's why I ordered one :happydance:

Your first comment made me :rofl2:
Your 2nd comment is so true as I have received great comments about my rims, got the sport rims though, but they've been bashed on here as well.

The Z hasn't been bashed so much as people having differing opinions. A fanboi would call someone else not agreeing with a subjective opinion a bash.
What has been criticized and rightfully so is that the Z had the most subtle refresh compared to other cars yet has the second highest price hikes after the BMW 1/3 series and camaro SS. Mustang has made dramatic changes with a very low increases over the last 4 years. So has hyundai genesis coupe. Mazda Rx-8, mitsubishi evo and subaru wrx have only had mild changes with mild price hikes to match.
Not comparing the cars as performers... But what we got as a refresh package by price and features. New shocks, front fascia and mild bump in quality in the lower cockpit doesn't quite ring as an "epic refresh". Just like the gencoupe, the front end is hit or miss... And even over there they don't seem to be as offended by differing opinions as here. In the end, we love the Z and we still think the Z is a great car. Some won't agree which way the Z is going. I'm not a proponent of catering to the U.S. soft azzes when europe, middle east and asia seem to be happy with the Z34. We're the only country with Z issues and bullying nissan into selling out due to our corporate influence in the global market through mass negative publicity. We already have mustangs and bimmers. We don't need the Z to be like them.

Thats them, they do look kinda hideous on the roadster. I think they look ok and the coupe, nothing to write home about although. If they would carried over the design from the 06-08 350 rims for the base, that would have been a major plus.

Yeah, i agree to a point, but go side by side on the 09-12 base rims. They are a huge increase in style. I think the 09-12 base wheels were the worst thing that could have been added to the Z. At least the new base rims have a high end fit and finish. I would be able to live with the current base rims till i got some aftermarkets. The previous rims. Hell no. I went sport pkg, mostly due to the brakes and i couldn't live with base rims at all.

I agree, they went way south when the design changed form the late 350's 06-08 to the 09-12's base.

mhcoss 09-15-2012 09:35 PM

I personally prefer the 2012 better.. I just like its shape and silhouette more 2013 is definitely a beauty though!

Yeah they told me it would take about 3 months but when I get it I'll definitely show it to you guys!

tanamerra 09-17-2012 01:35 PM

Only have 11,300 miles on my 2010 Nismo. Was offered a 2013 Nismo for my ride plus 10 grand. After test driving the 2013 i passed. Good deal, nice car, but like my current ride better.

cooltoy 09-17-2012 02:19 PM

Nizmo shouldn't be any different. Other then wheels and brakes colour. Is it?

shadoquad 09-17-2012 02:26 PM

The tweaks that people are arguing over are minor. Still looks great, always has looked great, opinions will vary.

As for the new base rims, I like them, but I liked the old base rims as well. I received many compliments on the old base 18 rays. I only got new rims because I wanted more tire all around. I don't see the '13 rims as some massive improvement. But they do look good.

I disagree with your opinion. I received many compliments on my '10 base rims. But to each their own.

Just my opinion... no need to stress the same point 2x back to back based on what I said.
