My alarm is suddenly quiet
 

Ok guys, I did a quick search and didn't see anything, so I'll see if you know. As of last night, whenever I lock or unlock my car, the little alarm that beeps once or twice is very quiet, almost to the point of not being heard. Do you know what could have happened and how to get it loud again?

I know you can turn the beep on and off by holding the lock and unlock button simultaneously on the key fob. After holding them down for a few seconds it should beep or something to let you know it's changed.

I've done that before by accident :) I don't have my manual in front of me so I can't look through there to see if it says anything about it, but I don't think thats what's going on. It's just really quiet, like if its battery was dying, but my car battery is fine.

yes when you hold the two buttons down the lights flash and if your horn does not honk anymore when you push the button to lock it on the fob when you push the button on door it is also silent now .

I understand that. That's not what's happening here. My alarm is still beeping, just very quietly. I'm wondering why the volume of my alarm has gone down.

i actually never knew the car made a beep at all until after i installed my illuminated kick plates so i was like did those just make it have a beep lol!!then the next day it stopped making the beep noise then it did again the next day...

I'd want to say maybe a fuse or something, but usually fuses are all or nothing. Maybe a loose wire on the alarm or something?

Not sure what would cause the volume of the alarm to be quieter than normal.

Also, to save some trouble. That switch is on the left side of your brake/clutch pedal. Open up that little tab and you'll find it.

Except for the lights, my car doesn't make any noise when I lock it. Normal right?

Yeah that's normal. If you want it to, hold down you lock and unlock button at the same time.

I don't know where the actual beep comes from but is it possible it's partly obstructed?

I'm not sure... And what's made it even stranger is that today it worked fine, back to full volume. Weird...

That is weird. It had to be some kind of obstruction. I wish I knew where the beep actually came from.

When it's not raining, tomorrow hopefully, I'll try to get in there and figure out what's up.
