Funny thing happened...

So I finally get home last night, ready to park my brand new nismo in the garage. My driveway is like at a 45 degree angle pretty much. Everyone scraps in it but being me I have learned not to. I knew the 370 was low but was like nah I got this. So my buddy gets out and tries to guide me in without scraping. I get the driver side tire on the driveway and the bumper is already touching the driveway. There is no way it will go up without serious damage. So I am forced to park my beautiful car on the freakin street! O man was I pissed. Now I wake up and must figure out something as this is just not going to work. Honestly plan on moving at this point it isn't worth it lol. O boy.

Nice. Steel plates are also available, but this looks easy.

Bridjit Curb Ramp -- FTW.

wow, parking in the street is like asking for thieves to steal your brand new wheels... :ugh2: i dont see the humor??

falconfixer 08-09-2012 11:38 AM

The ramps are a good idea. Just don't leave them out or crackheads will take them. Crackheads steal anything.

 I love mine and I thought I would have to bolt them down. Turns out, they are too heavy and cumbersome to easily steal.

kenchan 08-09-2012 12:01 PM

honestly get your car in the garage fast. your wheels will be missing soon. dealers sell with tires over $5K.

Masa 08-09-2012 12:01 PM

Yeah, I originally planned to bolt them down but they are:

1) too heavy and cumbersome to steal
2) would get owned by the snow plows once winter comes anyway

So I just leave them there and move them if it snows. My Altima can make it in and out the driveway no problem without scraping so its a non issue in the winter.

The two pics posted above have driveways which are not steep at all. At stock height the Nismo can easily make those if you line up sideways and get one tire on at a time slowly. You may have to go on the lawn some in that one pic, but it can definitely be accomplished with either none or very minimal scrape.

YOU GOT THAT!

I could clear my driveway when my suspension was stock, but not after I installed Swift springs, regardless of the angle.

whoady4shoady 08-09-2012 12:24 PM

I believe that. i have swifts on the way, and im scared shiless. I DD and I have the older version of the FI exhaust.

OK -- assume you have the ramps in place. I approach the driveway at about a 45 degree angle with the front wheels straight. As soon as the front wheels are on the driveway itself, I staighten the car out and slowly enter the driveway all the way. Backing out it the reverse (no pun intended) of this procedure.

only thing that guys needs is real LSD. :icon17:

Lucky I live in a nice area. But yea I need to get it in a garage asap lol. Me and my buddy thought about ramps. But I believe y'all underestimate my driveway lol. Those pics can't compare. Seriously just contemplating selling the house lol.

It doesnt look that bad, but Ive been wrong before. What about backing in at an angle? Humm..........

Yea I tried to get a decent pic but the sun is blaring at me and makes it difficult. It is very steep. The first quarter of it or so has a huge angle to it. From there on it's not too bad. I thought about backing up but then realized I'll just scrape when I come down lol.

kenchan 08-09-2012 12:53 PM

just make a ramp for the curb, drive over grass into garage. your HOA will love it.

GaleForce 08-09-2012 12:58 PM

I'm still waiting for the punch line...

Today's humor is wack!

MattP725 08-09-2012 01:34 PM

The driveway doesn't have to have a big curb, it is about how quickly it inclines... the modern driveways like above have a short quick slope from the street which is what makes it bad for lowered cars... my driveway has a huge curb at the end but I can generally role down it pretty easily because of the length.

Ironically I have a tiny bump up going into the garage and my exhaust scrapes like mad on it so I needed to build ramps out of 2x10s.

jlbrenne 08-09-2012 01:38 PM

Ramps is the only thing I can think of. Unless you angle it into the grass, lift the Z, sell the house, park on the street and get a good alarm with good insurance.

Alexshen1 08-09-2012 02:01 PM

the problem for u is the dip b4 the ramp. in this case a ramp would be perfect

ddot196 08-09-2012 02:32 PM

Thanks for suggestions. Yea me and my neighbor looked at it too. He knows a concrete guy said he can come take a look at it. Either that or ramps. Or sell the house lol. ThAnks for the help.

kenchan 08-09-2012 02:48 PM

id just get some plywood boards, cut them to size, stack them up to shape, screw them together and use that until you sell the house. lol

Sell the house. It looks like you may live in a neighborhood with an HOA. No can do.

ERZperformance 08-09-2012 03:14 PM

Should had thought of that and be prepare to make those ramp before buying the Z. Parking on the street sucks. Cars get really dirty and you may get those stupid people who are jealous of your car and scatch that.

O yea. Hoa is here lol. Agreed. Prob just sell the dang place. I only need a roof over my head. I don't really care where lol. Well I kinda do. Not some crackhead spot.

Dwight Frye 08-09-2012 04:58 PM

Go out in the middle of the night and pour some cement down to fill in enough of the dip to make a ramp. Put a piece of large diameter PVC pipe through it so water can run down the gutter, through the ramp and out the other side.
Wait to see if some worthless bureaucrat from the city ever comes out to investigate and then play dumb. Blame it on the neighborhood skateboarders.

Even better!!! Dummy up a work order and have the city do it for nothing.
