Paddle shifter goes along w/ semi-auto and duel-clutch system. With CVT, there should be no paddle shifter since there's literally no gear to shift! Those with DSG or dual-clutch system such as GT-R have paddle shifter. Standard and out-of-date automatic cars do not have paddle shifter

sport package equipped nissan's with CVT have paddle shifters and a "sport" mode for the transmission that "shifts" to designated ratios to simulate a 6 spd automatic. by no means does that statement mean that it actually works, i'm just saying it's there lol

hmm...I certainly did not know that. It's weird tho since CVT literally has no definitely set gear. How is it supposed to "shift"?

it just slides to another pre-set ratio as quickly as it can. it's not very convincing as far as i've heard

It's not, at least not in my Altima. The first three "gears" do not really seem to change much of anything when you shift through them. Shifting into "fifth" and "sixth" do drop the RPMs a bit. It does seem to be really more of a gimmick than actually something useful. But, as a 4-cyl DD, it works just fine to drop down to "D" and leave it there.

Cvt is horrible. Try merging into traffic quickly with it. You press the gas and wait at least 2-3 seconds before any real acceleration comes on.. Scary if someone is coming up on your ***..
Also my track record with cvt's is not so good. Had trans replaced both in my Murano and my Cube... Why do you think Nissan bumped up the CVT warranty to 120k miles?
