So I stopped at my local nissan yesterday to
take a look at the new front bumpers. I didnt care for it to much. It gave me the impression of a more feminine look for some reason. I cant explain it. It didnt take very long, and I was bored, so I pulled into the Scion dealer next door to check out the FRS.
They had just received a black manual transmission and it was on the showroom floor. There was a woman maybe in her mid 40s with her son who was about 16/17 standing next to it looking at it. I sat it in it and gave it the once over and the salesman asked me if I wanted to test drive it. I said Id love to, but I dont want them having to pull it off the showrom floor. He then proceeded to tell me how well they were selling and they cant keep them for more than a couple of days. In fact, the lady who was there with her son had just purchased the automatic one that they had on the way to the dealership later in the week for herself. I thought the interior of the car was ok, but on the lower end of course, but I liked the seats. I found them very comfortable and supportive. The car itself has a nice look in some ways. It reminded me of a baby LFA from some angles, but the rear quater panel area kind on turned me off. It reminds me to much of the gen coupe. The front and rear looked sharp as all hell. I hate to be that guy, but Im starting to wonder if this vehicle will end up turning into a chick car. I was really surprised to hear that the car was going to be the mother's and not the son's vehicle. What do you guys think? To early to tell? |
i like their old skool HU.

I know a woman that saw an FRS (before they hit the street) and ordered it without test driving it first. I asked what she liked about it and got a useless answer except for fun. By useless I mean chick answers such as; cute, darling, adorable, etc. She even has an outfit in mind that will go with it.
She will look good in it too. |

Yeah, I told a local Subaru dealer to let me know when he'd be getting a BRZ in, so that I could come check it out. I had already driven an FRS and sat in both.
When he called me, he said they'd be getting it in a week or so, but if I gave him a deposit, they'd hold it for me. He said it was likely that someone would buy the car before it hit the showroom. I don't know how anyone would buy a car they've never test driven. Seems to be begging for trouble. |

Does anyone know what the MSRP is on the bumpers? I like them and have been thinking about doing a conversion.

My office building now has 2 Scion FRS's. Got to speak to one of the owners, female, late 30's, bought it just from the brochure/never saw it in person or test drove it. Had no idea what it was or the hype, just loved the looks. Said she was going to buy the TC, but thought it was too much of a young kids car. Not a real good person to talk to about handling or power.
She likes the car overall, but said getting in & out of it is a pain. I chuckled when she said that, because when I test drove a FRS, that was my first impression. Not sure who owns the 2nd, but hope to meet that owner soon. So far, FRS 50% chicks car in my office building. But in all fairness, she said her first choice would be a 370Z but couldn't afford it. So does that make the Z a chicks car as well  |

Oh snap another post about a FRS?
Angry mob assemble! |
I am a 2000 Celica GTS owner and was totally into the the FT-86 concept. I was hoping for at least 300 HP. Kept an eye on the car for two years.
When it was finally released, I was chocked that it was not going to be sold as a Toyota, was totally chocked that it was only 200 HP. I test drove it and thought to myself - "Self if you get this car you are just trading one Celica for another. While looking good either way, your years of getting your *** kicked by some Subaru or modded Civic will continue". So I turned my eye toward a 370Z, for just an extra $10000 over what I paid for the Celica you can have a car very few could beat and looks just as good. |

BUT I had done so much research before hand and just general Z knowledge I blew away the sales guy who barely knew a thing. I've gotten to see a couple of FRS/BRZ's now...they look smaller and light...the finish is a bit cheaper but not bad...seen some at Time Attack too...seem to do alright...Like I said in an older post...it can be what the Z was when it started out |
